Stubborn Friend What Subs For 01 Silverado, Has 3k To Spend

DJ, he's putting 3 grand aside for car audio on his soon to be 2001 Silverado. And get this, the kid wants to get Kicker Comps!...I tell him, wtf are you gonna get those for, 150rms a piece and his current subs are 160rms a piece. So i told him it was a step down, he says its a huge step up. He has 3 grand FFS! why would you want to blow it on low line subs!

I swear, i hate my friends when they try to talk to me about car audio. They admit to me that i know more about audio than they do, but they still try to "outsmart" me about the subject. Im not bragging that i know alot about car audio, its just stupid that they try to talk about subs.

He wants to keep the back seats in it, Extended Cab Silverado fyi. Im telling the kid to get Fi SSD's or something along the line of that...Even Pioneer Shallows i've told him about.

for shallows go kicker cvt over pioneer imo.....some sundown 8's maybe, he can raise the bottom part of the seat, blow-through, 3k leaves alot of options open

just talked to him, said that he's gonna keep his 199x S-10 for a little longer, told him to go SSD's FTW heh

he said "I'm not gonna get shallows for my S-10" when i was trying to explain to him that he's downgrading and not upgrading, so that pretty much means that he's not gonna get the new truck for a while...?

my kicker comp cvrs are 500 watts rms. let him learn i didnt want to listen to anybody when i got talked in to buying 4 mtx 4500 15s biggest pos subs anybody can buy. not saying kicker comps are horrible (if thats what you are referring to when you say kicker) my neighbor has 2 15s in his s10 extended cab and it sounds pretty good. unless like most of the guys on here he wants insane spl,

He loves bass, almost as much as i do . He likes SPL, but doesnt like the bass overpowering his highs. Likes SQ, but he thinks his Sony 6.5's and 4x10's have good SQ...which puzzles me

anything is an upgrade from sony, giv him the link to the forum and look at whats on here, if he decides to get something else then tell him i told you when he comes back pouting. dont force fi or dc on him if he docent have cash the power to run them. we all know that takes power and upgrading. he can still get other brands with less wattage that will still sound good.
