EricR Posted June 27, 2008 Report Posted June 27, 2008 as stated in your PM, D106 is not the tan but the black 3 legged Diode directly above it if your reading the words and left of it as seen in the pics. You can cut the legs off with a razor blade or you can get in there with a fine soldering iron and heat up the solder while pulling on it with a set of needle nose. It will be hard to save, its very small so say goodbye to it and your warranty (if there was one). I know you dont care thats why im givin up the info. RF of COURSE does not endorse this and its at your own risk. It should work fine below 1ohm but i wouldnt do anything lower then .7 to be safe...oh and if you short the speaker wires in any way its OVER JOHNNY :D be careful and good luck! hes not lying when he says this.....i modded this same amp one year ago when i first joined smd and i was at a friends house messing around with my system and we decided to put my 15" btl in his maxima to see how it sounded well i touched the wires when unhooking it (volume was only on 6) and smoke poured from my car. he actually still has that amp. ive thought about getting it back from him and having it fixed. i was thinking leave the 12 sitting in the box in the hole and duck tape from the bottom of the sub to the bottom of the baffle so the sub doesnt free air. would that work?
ISO Posted June 27, 2008 Author Report Posted June 27, 2008 Look guys I'm just doing this becuase I'm waiting on the SAZ-2000D to come out.(I'm impatient LOL) I have no plans to run the amp at less than 1.33 ohms witch is 3 out of my 4 10s. I have 11 years worth of experience with useing amps and couldn't even remember the last time I blew a fuse.(I might of just Jinxed myself LOL) Also The amp I am haveing it done to is in very rough condition for my standards, so if it blows I'm not concerned. I am haveing a profesional do the work for me as I am not a circuit board guy. Thank you to that person, alot. I don't think he would help me if he thought I was a total idiot.(I'm still an idiot though just not a total idiot LOL) This is not something the average person should have done or think about doing. I will leave it up to SMD, but I feel this thread should be deleted or locked. Thank you everyone for your help. He doesn't leave any parts from the original amp in there.To me fixing an amp means you find the probblem and fix it and don't touch anything else. So he fully rebuilds the amp with all new parts and doesn't reuse any of the original parts.(even the good ones) So I see a big difference between fixing an amp and fully rebuilding the amp.
