I am not a broker and wont give advice. Just research and watch the market for a while and its all pretty self explanitory.

I've bought stocks through a company I use to work for. Sometimes you get a break in price or the company will match your investment. CD's and Money Markets are safe investments but, some what slow returns. Like Roscoe said examine the market and do some research. Whatever you do make sure your able to sleep at night.

if you are looking for quick money, i would suggest a CD if you are not exactly sure what you are doing. I am putting my college loan money into a CD and earning more than the interest i'm paying, so it works. But the only way to get really good at it is to watch for a while, then jump in head first. but being smart is the key thing and making yourself happy. [stocks are better for a long term investment, so you will have to ride out the highs and lows]

Current Setup:

Factory HU with LOC

mids/highs-Insignia components

Sub- E8 in bass tube

Amp- sae-1200d

mid/high amp - Autotek 5600

i have been doing alot of reading and it seems stocks are a long term then..i believe CD's even longer right?

Do anyone suggest mutual funds?

Stocks are long term I think CDs are fast but only if the interest is high on them

set up a roth IRA if you are planning in terms of retirement. Any bank can tell you about it. Like a 401K , but you pay tax on what you put in, not on your net profits basically. A 401K is good, really good, and very common among employer benefits. But, while pretax income contributions are made, you are ultimately taxed on all of your return, or gains - i.e. your profits. This can be very costly when retirement comes.

As far as just buying stock, any big name technology company, big energy ( including the oil companies ) , and surface transportation companies. Railroads and UPS will never let you down. No matter how bad the economy gets, the 4 major railroads are not going anywhere. Can you see moving a power plants supply of coal any other way?

I am partial to the railroad stocks, cause CSX alone has gone up over 20 bucks a share in the past year. Between my company stock, and my 401k invested into stocks and a few S&P and mutual funds, my portfolio has grown ( including my contributions ) to around 23 grand in just under two years

Find a good financial adviser and create a plan and stick to it.
