Speakers Wont Fit!

Recommended Posts

Okay so I looked this up on crutchfield, circuit city, best buy, and the audio shop looked it up for me, they all say that the back doors of my 4 Runner hold 5 1/4" speakers, but when i bought the speakers got home and im trying to install them now, the 5 1/4" speakers won't fit, the hole is too small, but everywhere i look it says thats what fits, so what do i do? make a spacer or take them back and get 4" speakers I need help A.S.A.P!

Sounds like you need to make spacers or find custom speaker pods, My Scion xB holds 6 1/2 in the doors but the speakers are all one unit. Meaning that the pod and the speaker are one unit. they wer pop rivited into the door I had to drill them out and get some 1 inch and cut them to fit.

I just made spacers, I made a template with the stock speaker pods cut them to fit and installed them.

I have photos I just need to pull them off my camera.

thats what wont fit and the screw holes dont line up either, so should i take them back?

its up to you, you can find some with a smaller basket, i had to trim my doors a little and re drill my own holes, i used a air saw though.so it was pretty easy

You can open up the hole with metal snips and then drill new screw holes. It should work fine as long as the magnet isn't too deep. Or take them back

not many cars can get me to pluggin my ears but this one.......damn. I mean the first minute is ok but that thing just really starts digging deeper and deeper in your earhole till you cant stand it no more. Seems like it does it with relative ease....16 12's on 8 amps.........gotta love it. :)

Here is what I did to go from 5x7 to 6x9's in my truck

Cut about 1/2" in and around about every 1/2" and bend the tabs back some. That way if you ever switch back, you can bend the tabs back in place.
