brendyn74
In comparing subwoofers, some have a displacement of .4, some .2 and so on. What does displacement mean? The more displacement the louder the subwoofer? Any other information would be great. Thanks!!
LSN2meBoom916
Displacement refers to the amout of air the woofer basket and magnet will "displace" or take up inside you box. -imagine the air in a sealed box was water...as you put something in there like a sub, some water would spill out/overflow. ...or be displaced. jonnylowkon
i think ur talking about how much space the magnet and basket of the sub take away from ur total volume of ur enclosure.. so just subtract that .4 from ur total box volume and thats the total number cubes after installtion of ur sub in the box Quote 250 amp mechman alt Sundown 100.4D Sundown 1500v2 now goin to the cruze Sundown ZV3 12d2 Sundown sa6.5cs X2 Kenwood X597 Trying something new 2011 Chevy Cruze X8 1500v2

The Performer
I've got one that maybe you guys can help me clear up... So when making a ported enclosure, you have a recommended size to make it to. However does that specific size include the port displacement? Anyone see what I'm getting at? It's just something that never really clicked with me... Quote CERTIFIED BITCHES!!! Not being new at something doesn't mean anything. Typically the recommended size will say "AFTER ALL DISPLACEMENT" which means after the port displacement and sub displacement the recommended is how much airspace you should have left. brendyn74
Thanks, I know what displacement is I was referring to the output of the subwoofer having something to do with the displacement. For example, the heavier the magnet is the more output it would potentially have? Like the DC Sound Lab lvl4 12" I heard has a displacement of .16, and the AQHDC312 is .4. Is this saying that the AQ will most likely have the potential of having the output?
