Getting A New Laptop, So How Do I Erase Everything On My Computer Asap

well i bought a portable WD 320 GB hd and fot all my pics, vids movies music and some business stuff transfered over to that , now since i really dont know much about computers i thought it d be a fun lil practice since i dont have anything left on this one i care about ( as far as files at least ) .. So what can i do , How can I erase entire histories, pages , hard drives etc.. yea , i am this slow w computers ..

start it using f8 if its win xp go to start with comand promp then after it loads type format C:

If you are completely paranoid you could use Darik's Boot and Nuke which formats using DoD 5220-22.M standards, which I believe

is 52 passes of writing 0's over the entire contents of the hard drive. Any data will not be able to be recovered, even by the most expensive and/or professional resources.

Back in the day dunno if it still works go into dos and type *_* to reformat the hard drive think this was in the win 98 days tho lol wonder if it still works

it won't work because the windows files are in use

if its a computer with the OS already loaded onto it try F11 key on start up and ull be able reformat the hardrive and even reinstall windows at the same time. hope this was of sum help!!
