no you can put grill cloth over a port with no affect to sound. you can also use grill cloth to keep the pollyfill inside a ported enclosure.

Its all about the Install !!!!

If you stretch it across the mouth of your port, it increases resistance in the port and lowers tuning freq.

Try and put grills approx. 1/2 the port diameter away from the mouth and you should have port noise. (if possible)

The only other problem I've encountered when Ive used it over ports is; over time the cloth will stretch and need to be re-pulled taught.

sounds normal... but just wondering how long it took to strech... as long as its not like every week i wouldnt mind spending the extra time fixin it

theres no such thing as too expensive when it comes to upgrades like that, because imo if you are gonna spend to upgrade then do it correctly rather then be a cheap ass ricer
