Lol. What did you use to heat the terminal up, a turbine from a jet?

heat the metal part until the solder melts when you touch the metal, then back off a little bit. don't heat it up too much because the solder will sift through the terminal and wire

Simple as that....but again..aim the flame away from the jacket!!

Aim the flame away from the jacket upwards in a 45degree angle.....use the lug itself as the iron by heating it from the backside. Keep feeding it in until you see it "wick" up inside the wire strands...than after that i like to throw a "beauty puddle" over the top. It takes practice but once you figure it out, its kinda fun to solder the big wires :)
