kentb
heat the metal part until the solder melts when you touch the metal, then back off a little bit. don't heat it up too much because the solder will sift through the terminal and wire Quote New System 2 10" Fi SSD, Sundown 1500d Build I build and design enclosures(cheap price), PM ME Kicker L7 Navigator(plexiglass, fiberglass, aeroport) Build BTL 18" Escalade(plexiglass, battery tray) Build http://www.kentbaudio.com Old System

E a r t h
Ahh, ok.I got "rosin core elctrical repair solder" wrong kind? Thanks. Thats the right stuff for the job. Acid core is what you want to stay away from here.
meade916
Aim the flame away from the jacket upwards in a 45degree angle.....use the lug itself as the iron by heating it from the backside. Keep feeding it in until you see it "wick" up inside the wire strands...than after that i like to throw a "beauty puddle" over the top. It takes practice but once you figure it out, its kinda fun to solder the big wires Quote All SMD products + MORE available at my store here! https://wccaraudio.com/ Subscribe to My Youtube Channel!
