audiofanaticz
playing below tuning with out a subsonic does not necessarily mean a blown woofer.shit i run a single 15 in 4.3 cubes tuned to 40hz with 112.5 sq in of port with no subsonic...zero problems whatsoever even after a few years...800 watt rms amp also. That is so wrong. Dont know about your sub, but if your underpowering it (800rms is not much) you can easily get away with playing below tuning. When your pushing serious power to your speakers and play a 20hz track, in a boxtuned for 35hz your going to trash your coils. Your sub is going to move farther then it should under higher power. making your voice coil possibly jump out of the gap or so far that the sub loses control and you start to have coils rubbing on the motor. Or your sub is going to bottom out.

I can vouch for that, when I play anything between 10Hz and 20Hz at full volume my coils will straight slam my magnets, it kinda scares me sometimes, tis why I try to stay away from songs with such low frequencies. Noobtastic14
The sub plays fine, reaches maybe 1/2 excursion on the lowest notes but the "swimming" effect is gone, its just a strong HIT then a fluttering cone. -Drew Quote I am a United States Military Arts and Crafts Professional. wL<3bass
The lowest note you typically see in "normal" songs don't usually fall below mid to high 20s, if that. wL<3bass
I think it may be your enclosure....b/c my dads subs have a fs of 30.0 and the box is tuned to 34hz and it straight murders get silly slowed where the low note is 23hz, you have to watch the volume but there is no fluttering cone there is "my god I think my ear drums have excursion" kinda sound.
