Well it's pretty heavily braced on the outside of the tunnel and there's about three gallons of fiberglass on the whole skeleton. I'm trying to avoid putting visible braces inside the tunnel for right now. That's why I'm going to test it first before continuing. Plus these subs are about 250RMS a piece and don't do too much damage to their positions. I'm used to larger ones, but yeah I'm definitely going to be aware of that. ptcary Posted October 28, 2008 Report Posted October 28, 2008 From what I've seen from Assman and KingSuv, sometimes bracing gives it a "industrial" look, allthread or chains used, I kinda like it. ...I guess if you have to add any bracing to that tunnel, it will come down to functional strength over looks! Drill and tap the center of the all-thread and run a SHCS and washer on the outside of the box. Heh, the terms 'inside' and 'outside' get a little confusing with this design. I think I know what you mean though. I do have a lot of that stuff at my shop at work, but I'm going to wait to see what these subs will do. The first sign of flex, I'll jump right on your advice. I'm not bashing you guys for help with the bracing, I just want to avoid doing to many more things in the back unless I have to. If the back of the box is using the rear of the car for enclosure and there is a significant amount of pressure back there, the hatch door will vibrate and flex at the bottom (where it closes) back and forth on it's rubber seal as far as the latch is going to let it move. I ran 4 12"s sealed back there with 400w and the hatch moved more than you would expect, the rear hatch is really a weak link in a PT in termes of what subs can flex/vibrate......so I am thinking you are gonna beat up the hatch door pretty bad! Can't wait to see some vids, but take your time and set it up right, so you don't have to climb in that tunnel for any extra work. The tentative plan is like this: -Test structure at half power -Brace more if necessary -Pretty up the front -Install amps -Test for SPL a number of ways: -without sealing the back -sealed back -without rear plate -using the top of box as port -etc... I'm going to try to make it as loud as possible trying all the different ways that I can. Interesting fact, if I sealed the sides of the wall and the sides of the top of the box, the space between my ceiling and box would make for a port that tunes it to around 40hZ. Lol, but that's so lazy. I'm going to try it though. Gorilla flex doesn't bother me at all!
