Anyone Here A Fighter Jet Pilot?

Recommended Posts

I work at an fbo man,or a FIXED BASE OPERATION.Its where the private planes/jets park and come to.Anyways,we get military guys in all the time and have the c5s and c130s doing touch and goes all day long.Ive never heard any of them complain about it,but i dont know any of the details.I do know you DONT wanna work for the airlines or fly cargo (other than dhl, fedex or ups that is)All the private planes/jets pilots that i talk to that have worked in the airlines say they would never go back, that it sucked, including the pay.I think for the first 2 years its like 19k,then 23k and a very slow latter from there.Building time is hard unless you do it thru the military.A guy that works for us went to college to get his private pilot licence, instrument rating, multi. . and a few others and hes out of like 90 grand and his hours still arent even high enough to get hired by a basic operator.. .im going to get my private pilot one day soon but ill never try to fly for a living like i once thought about doing too.But its definatly up to you,was just gonna share my little knowlege and experience that i have around them.

Consider the coast guard... Not quite fighter jets, but helicopters... and if you fail flight school, it doesnt mean you will end up runing across the desert with a M-16 for the next four years...

im not buying that a commercial airline pilot makes 19-23k a year.....i think the stewardess make a damn good living and they cant be making less then the damn pilot - no way

My fathers next door neighbor is a retired delta pilot.... Seems like he told me he retired making about 135k a year... not to mention his pension he collects now, and since he retired, he opened a very nice liquor store a few miles up the road...

x2 If I knew the pilot was making less than 8 an hour I wouldn't be caught on that flight haha. I flew in a twin engine on with a pilot that was a pilot or delta also, he also let me fly it was sweet.

You dont have to man,Im talking to some pilots right this second and theys say im right, thats why they fly for the private jet places (like people that own there own jets) because thats the only way to make a good living.its all good tho

You would be suprised to know the minimum requirements to sit right seat in an airline slot,or even become captain, some of them are right out of flight training and barely meet the minimums. For instance,my boss owns his own twin turboprop king air that he charters out.every 6 months he has to go to flight safety to keep current.when he goes,he know more about the airplane that the teacher that is supposed to teaching him about,so he ends up showing the instructor alot of things, kinda backwards isnt it?he has tons of hours and time in the airplane but somebody with minimum time in it is trying to instruct him on how to fly it.Im not begging for your approval or anything,i just know what i see/hear everyday from pilots so i was just sharing it with you chode thats all man
