A bat battery, even one that still reads 12+ volts that has no more CCA to it will smoke an ALT in no time. I have a garage full of batts that read 12 and couldn't support a car let alone a system. dmanson Posted March 1, 2009 Report Share Posted March 1, 2009 you'd think with two D3100s you wouldn't see that much of a voltage drop on a T40001bd. damn they are power hogs. mrrairai on here runs his T40001 off of one D3100 and a 260 amp iraggia alt, he has no problems such as mentioned in this thread. 2-DC 15XLM2 D.7s 1-DC 5K amp (1) XS Power D6500(UNDERHOOD) and (1) XS3000(REAR) 3 runs 1/0ga for power and 2 runs of 1/0ga for negative. sactownstang Posted March 1, 2009 Report Share Posted March 1, 2009 12.4 is not that bad, My advice is a 2nd alt. I imagine your asking 300A+. I know u have a mechman alt but I doubt it does 150A at idle. Probably not more then 150A max with slippage. So if at idle it is at 14.4, then the alt runs out at 150A (or less probably) the it's just battery after that. When the battery is not on a charger should sit around 12.6-12.9. So after that alt runs out of current how can u expect the voltage not to drop to 12.4 when pushed. Not a bad number .4 off what the battery sits at and your suprised? lol For that amp, I say it's normal. If it stayed at 14.4 then u would not be putting on much power.
