My landlord had a Laptop stolen from his car, on our driveway about 3 weeks ago. {amazingly, it was actually recovered a week later by police... but we know what a fluke that was, right ?} My neighbor had his van broke into last week. All they got there was his kids back pack, with school work and such, but they jacked his vehicle up getting to it. My partner right around the corner, had his Honda broke into, and stereo stolen 3 nights ago. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Now, I'm just about to put a relatively high dollar system in my truck, and leave it parked on the same effed up streets :-( Needless to say, I'm REALLY concerned. I don't want to use the word 'paranoid', as I don't think I'm worrying for nothing, like they are all out to just get 'me'....... I'm not tweeking. I'm being realistic here. Sure, I have a nice alarm, with all the options..... but still..... Any suggestions on what to do about the rash of thefts in this area ? So I thought it would be a good idea to sit on the side of my porch with my tipman 98 custom with auto reasponse trigger on the second night I got them shot them up and they went sceaming like little bitchs nothings happened since. Keep the car empty of everything and clean all the time. You won't be able to bump the system when you get it in anywhere near your block b/c you never know who is watching and listening = sux. ....but like etaks_crew said, a nice neighborhood watch program with you and a paint ball gun or a BB gun or something NON-LETHAL would be a good start. Eventually I will be putting up motion lights everywhere, and at least a fake camera in view. We have had our own problems heres with stereo thefts, and someone walking in on me sleeping on the couch at like 2am I also sleep with a Rambo knife religiously under my pillow... lol Quote I have a ritual called "terminator". I crouch in the shower in the "naked terminator" pose. With eyes closed I crouch for a minute and visualize either Arnie or the guy from the 2nd movie. I then start to hum the T2 theme. Slowly I rise to a standing position and open my eyes. It helps me get through my day. The only problem is if the shower curtain sticks to my terminator leg. It sorta ruins the fantasy. jmitch Posted December 5, 2008 Report Share Posted December 5, 2008 every neighborhood has jackers and most of the time its the 1s u see alot walkin the hood, so what me and my patna do he stays a few blocks away, but anyways when im outside im strapped wit it showing so the ones that may be watching see that im not takin no shit and we neighbors watch out for eachothers house when gone. thats just what i do to keep me and mine safe and it seems to be workin no recent thefts in or around my block that i have sight of.
