i've had 4 12" w7 in back of a interga sounded great... spl wasn't that great. but back in the early 90's late 80's when iasca was the only show's around...if you didn't have JL or PPI your chances of winner wasn't good. JL is a sql speaker that can get loud. but now its all about how loud you can get!!! thats why you see installs at show with wires everywhere and unfinish boxes. back then everythings was checked. alot of installs they let go thru would even be aloud to complete. I run kicker now...why... because they are made for the street. I run 1 L7 15" off 1500 rms daily. and i'm not shy with the volume. 2 yr and the speaker just died. and that was only because i put a brutus 2600 on it and did check the gains on it. and they where wide open. http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/public/style_emoticons/default/01nocomment8so.gif I like the Kicker over the JL myself but the JL's sound bettter but the kicker's take the everyday beating alot better then the JL's. I'm alittle older then some people here so I remenber the older kicker comp ...they where better then the newer L7. I remenber the older JL w7 an they sound better then the newer speaker. to me kicker are street pounder and JL are for the sql people...I've never really been a sql person....Louder the better for me. Jl overrate no just over priced to me.

theres only been one w7

im sure you mean older w7s though

L7s Still hit harder than w7s, and whoever said kicker cant hit lows is wrong, u probably just got a cheap box and a shitty amp, i got mine tuned at 32hz and i really dont care who's louder i just like my car to flex.

Get defensive much?

and your reply makes no sense. If you dont care whos louder and just want to flex then the w7s would obviously flex more, being that it has more xmax than any L7 will ever have.

I really do enjoy JL's line of subs, but there so F*CKIN' expensive that it doesnt even make sense to buy em... and it sucks for the people who bought them out of a local shop, b/c they wanna get like 1/2 of what they paid for it, but for that price, the buyer can go buy brand new subs the equivalent of the JL sub for cheap NEW.

Then you gotta take into account that W7's may have more Xmax, but L7's have much more cone area.

But this thread was about JL being over-rated. (Which it is)

Now every one is bashing either Kicker or JL Audio, whats up with that?? Everyone has there own opinion. Mine is L7 over W7 anyday...

Even a mod has joined in on bashing! WTF??? I don't think referring to Kicker as garbage all the time is your own "opinion" I think thats pushing it...

meh kickers are still garbage, i never said they couldnt get low thats not my opinion at all. Mod or not if i wanna say somethign im gonna say it.

the real meaning of this thread is really everyone saying that JL is overpriced, nobodies argument is really about the performance of the JL sub. Kicker people had to open thier mouths about L7s in the JL thread, and they got bashed, GET OVER IT.
