imo bass boost should not be used at all but can be turned up a little if need be

so why do amps even have bass boost if they shouldnt even really be used

for people that are under powering their subs and still want descent beat till they can afford better subs. If you are feeding your sub it's RMS power then i would leave the bass boost off.

i have a Fi BTL 15" on a Kicker zx2500.1 i have my bass boost always on and gain as far as it can go. when you plug the bass boost remote in on, your amp it over rides the settings on the actual amp's bass boost. so you will have control up front.

Everything I've seen says if you plan on using the bass boost, tune it with it all the way up so that you don't drive it into clipping when it is up. That's when you're doing it with a DMM.

I don't have any actual experience with real world tuning (still trying to learn this stuff lol) but it would seem to me that unless you plan on using the bass boost, set the gain with the bass boost all the way down.

Like I said, I'm still a n00b at this, so take what I said with a grain of salt.

You may be offended by the above. Don't take it personally, I'm just abrasive.
