i doubt it man.

i honestly think port noise is a myth cause ive built boxes with only 1" of port width with 0 noise.

IVE NEVER had port noise.

port noise occurs mostly at higher volumes

so a good sub like that FI you got there, beating with all that wattage moving a shitton of air may very well give you turbulence, and you will hear it in the form of whooshing for lack of a better term if you open your trunk and listen at a higher volume

at lower volume, or with junkier subs, it doesnt matter, because they arent moving enough air fast or far enough to cause turbulence, thats why those nice little prefabs with kicker comps or rockford p1's off 200 watts dont make port noise.

if its in your trunk, and you're in the car, you probably wont hear it, so dont worry, just something to consider for your next box. Try to keep the port as square as possible, the longer and thinner it gets, the more likely you are to have port noise.

(i had a 1.5x14.5 port in my last box, lots of port noise on low notes at high volume)

9:1 hxw ratio MAX is a good rule to follow......if i put one of my subs in a box like that and gave it ANY kind of power, it would sound like a kazoo whistlin' dixie.

not true, the legnth of the run is the important thing. Trimming some off to fit in a terminal wont hurt anything. For you though and most others, 12ga is perfect anyway.

the run will only be from the sub to the amp, and you think 12 ga will be ok. Cuz if you say it ill go pick some up. And Btw your Cadillac Build blows my mind (assuming its not done) Thanks

why buy more stuff when you have what you need? not to be a jerk, but i think your over analyzing things. thats just fine, but theres a point where ya gotta just do something. i wouldnt buy more materials when you have what you need.

i'm just trying to get it right you know i may be over anylzing things, cuz if i dont worry about stuff i may do a stupid mistake that might cost me 100's of dollars. And i have some Stinger Pro Series 12 guage, but im going to the shop anyway to get some terminals and im sure ill ask for some 12 guage and they'd just give it to me. But i understand what your saying, im just trying to do the best job i can

well a great choice in sub for a first build. i know how ya feel with messing with the plastics of the car and stuff tryin not to fuck any thing up. I was like that with my first system too, once i got a nicer car. I agree that the port is a little thin. I'd reallly like to hear how it sounds and the aftermath of completing this project. you should put some vids of the xmax and what not on the tube when your done and post em up hurr. 12 guage speaker wire is fine bro. lets get some picccccsssss of the sub and finished product

So heres another update, didnt finish tonight like i wanted to. Some things came up, anyway heres the pics.

First i had to drill a 3/8" hole into these, cuz they didnt fit over the Stocked HC800 terminals.

Got the amp put on the box, but the ground screw wouldnt budge so i had to pull it out

and that was the end of my night, and i gotta get something to pick up all that copper...

Ok so an update couldnt finish because my t-1000-1's ground screw was like wedged in their, took it to Vibez, my local shop, and they took care of me like always. so i work all day tommorow and tonight, but SUNDAY i dont work at ALL itll be done. WITH more pics and vids i promise. So see you then.
