Complete Home Audio Help!

Recommended Posts

Since i have only basic home audio experience..i wanna make my 2k+ plasma tv sound as good as it looks...

i have a 10 SSD i can use but i have no clue on speaker, receiver, box sizes, amp, etc

i was thinking do a 5.1 setup. i can build towers so i can do multi speakers up front and would like to do like one for back left and one for back right surround.

but like i said i have to clue what i would need and what would be a good match (speakers-->receiver) (SSD--->amp) etc.

im thinkin like 500 for everything...no including enclosure cost. just speakers, receivers, amp etc...

i also have a ps3 :)

well you need some decent components to go in the cabinets, good crossovers, etc.

as far as a 500 dollar budget, that kind of limits you on your receiver/amp choices.

i could spend more than 500 on just the receiver.

I'd hit that so fucking hard whoever pulled me out would be King of England.

Lol... looks like we were on the same page. Car-B-Ques suck.

Pioneer makes some pretty good receivers... http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.c...tnumber=250-503

As far as the speakers go, try taking a look at the Dayton Classic line-up of drivers at Partsexpress.com.

An idea is:

2x Dayton 8" Woofer (2 for Fronts): http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.c...tnumber=295-310

7x Dayton 1" Silk Tweeter (2 for Fronts, 1 for center, and 2 for rears): http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.c...tnumber=275-070

4x Dayton 5 1/4" Woofer (2 for Center and 2 for rears): http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.c...tnumber=295-301

And I'm not sure on what you are looking for in a sub, but the Dayton DVC (non-sheilded) line-up I've heard is pretty good for home theater. May be a little out of your price-range though.

12" http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.c...tnumber=295-185

15" http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.c...tnumber=295-190

And take a look at the sub amps there too.

P.Audio will have drivers that may suit your needs. Also, see if you can scrounge up some Vifa drivers, they appear around the place for rather cheap. A pair of Vifa full range drivers and a pair of quality soft diaphragm high frequency drivers in well built enclosures should do the trick just fine.

Cheers,

Mick
