If its 1 ohm or even lower then Id be more willing to bet on that. Id be really curious to see what the current draw is rated at and what its actually consuming.i second this...i had a Earthquake PHO-5000... and i didn't like it one bit. I had retarded power drainage at 2ohms on my thunder mtx 7500's... needless to say i sold it and bought a different amp. HHR Ed Posted May 11, 2009 Report Posted May 11, 2009 Chode, Your voltage drop actually seems normal. The earthquake amp can draw as much as 400A of current so can the rockford amp. Your 300A alty is capable of less amperage when you increase your voltage, so you are exceeding what the alty can do and sucking juice from the batts, which like to rest at 12.65v. You should worry unless you go below 12v but if you wanna stay a bit higher. You can add some batteries and keep them fully charged and keep the alty voltage just at 15 or below. This is very true as I have personally seen two different brand alt's drop amperage as the voltage was increased on the bench. But Robbie's ( DC Power) alts were doing rated power at higher voltage and off coarse increased amperage when voltage was dropped, so I think Rob rates his alts at higher voltage. We had a similar voltage issue that was fixed when the belt slip issue was resolved. So I really do believe that Chode is have issues due to his belt slipping. Is the rear buss bar still grounded the same?
