I got my deck installed finally! It came out good. One disappointment though, the spot I located on the dash where I wanted to flush mount my Stinger Voltage guage is a no go. It's not just a blank insert there like I thought. I really don't want to surface mount it cause I think it'll look tacky so I may not even use it after all, especially since my deck has a voltage guage display built in. But anyways, here's the pics

My first time taking this dash apart, kinda reluctant to do so for rear of breaking something, but here goes

That black plug had me worried since the harness I bought didn't have a plug for it, but SI Guy confirmed for me it was for my factory amp which I won't be using

Posted Image

Mounted the module for my harness which allows me to keep all my chimes and message center warnings

Soldered the led's for my flush mount deck kit to the remote lead off my deck

Kinda hard to tell, but the deck is butting up against the back wall inside the opening, I guess that's what happens when you recess it 3/4" more than it should be. But I'd rather deal with this and have a flush mounted deck than not have this issue and have it surface mounted

No more clearance issue!

I think i'm gonna have to hold off till tomorrow to bolt up my amp rack since i'm running out of daylight cause i'm gonna have to tune the amps before I can bolt them to the amp rack and since it's the night before school for my boy, i'm gonna have to fade him up pretty soon so unfortunately, no music for me tomorrow morning :(

Well I got some more done today, although not as much as I expected. When I got home from work, 5:15pm, I fired up the grill and did up some burgers and brats slathered in Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ sauce(the best bbq sauce in the world) and we had dinner. I went outside at about 6:30 to get crackin' on it. First thing I did was mocked up my fuse holders for my power lead and the alt power lead for the Big 3. After getting that squared away I moved inside the car and marked where I wanted the amp rack to be, marked where I needed to drill holes in the rack so I could bolt it up, etc....Everything was going good until I realized that the area I was wanting to mount the rack wasn't flat :censored: So I had to round up enough spacers in order to securely mount it, not an easy task when you don't have any supplies on hand, but I worked it out and found a way to make it happen. So I bolted the rack in and put the backrest back in to make sure it fit like it should and double check placement of the rack....it was perfect! By this time I was running out of daylight so I had to hurry up and get my car back together. By the time I finished I was out of daylight so I had to call it a day.

any more pics?

And heres a picture of my Boss's old competition blazer, I did somewhere around 167db's, but he used custom build ID subs, so Ill share it with you and maybe youll like it. ID's can take tons of abuse!!

^^That's pretty sick man, are those subs resting in that pic? Reason I ask is because those surrounds look like they're in the extended position, if that makes sense.

Well, as for my build, I failed today:( My goal was to have it done and playing, which it's not. I was able to get the amps wired up and installed to the rack though. So now all I need to do is ground the amps to the frame, connect the remote leads coming from the amps to the main remote lead, put my sub box in and connect the speaker wires and the trunk is done.

Under the hood I need to wire up the main power lead, including fuse block, alternator power lead, including fuse block, and install my SVR battery and it's ready to play.

Alright, enough of my crying (what would you be doing if you were on your 3rd day with no music?), here's the pics from what I got accomplished today.

Building this amp rack is the first time I've ever done woodwork so obviously there are some design flaws, like the screw heads being visible. This is mainly due to the fact that when I began this project I had every intention on painting it, in which case I could have countersunk the screws, filled them with wood putty and went on about my business. But I decided to wrap it instead, hence the screw head issue. I plan on making that less noticeable by punching out some holes in the scrap ostrich I have left and gluing them on top of each screw head. It's not going to be perfect, but it'll be better than it sits as we speak.

Any comments, suggestions or opinions?

And here's a shot of my deck lit up in full on darkness
