Port Shape

i kno its a dumb question but the only way to learn is to ask,so does it really matter,cause my port needs to be 180 square feet,so i can either do 13"x14" or 42.5 x 4" vent at the bottom,i'm rebuilding my box this weekend and need to kno

Damn dawg!...PROOFREAD....you mean square inches. inches X inches=inches^2 or sqaure inches.

No, shape does not matter, as long as it's not prone to whistling or other odd noises you might hear. The MTX demo car a couple years back was a redish ACURA RSX w/ 5-9500 series 12's in a ported enclosure in the hatch and the port was a triangular Acura logo-pretty sick lookin IMO.

I bet it's in the gallery on the mtx site if you look.

Just build it the shape you want and test it, as long as your in^2 is right it should be kool.

port shape doesnt matter except you dont want one that is 1 inch by 200 inches. you want it as square as possible.

alright thanks guys looks like i'll be doin the 13x14 and another question is if i do it 2 seperate chambers and put 2 differnt amps one on each sub like a hifonics on one and power acoustik on the other will i get that cross cancelation

yea there is that golden ratio thing, which i dotn know jack about, also on Jl Audios website they say says the ratio of Width to height should not be more than 9 to 1

why the hell would you spend the money on some great subs then go and do that, either but another hifonics or buy another PA, done run 2 mismatch amps and through them both on your subs, thats just plain sloppy

its because i sold my power acoustik but my new one will be here today or tomorrow and i have a brutus 1600 watt layin around sloppy not im just curious

Dont run two different amps like that. Either get another pa or get another hifonics.
