sean 371
theres also some little stick on plastic tabs with two loops for a ziptie to go thru. i found them at osh. if you clean up the surface real nice they stick amazingly. And you could use some wire loom, but it's really unnecessary once you've gotten it under the car. I only use wire loom in the engine bay. And even then I sometimes don't, depends on how I have to route it. Dale
I don't see any problem with routing your wires under your car....as long as it's done properly and FUSED at both ends.
sean 371
Why both ends...? If it shorts anywhere along the wire the fuse will blow. There's no need for 2 fuses. Dale
Why both ends...? If it shorts anywhere along the wire the fuse will blow. There's no need for 2 fuses. Actually....yes two fuses are in order. Remember that you ALSO have batteries in the back and that a fuse must not be too far away from a battery (within 18 inches). So let's say you have a fuse about a foot away from the battery under your hood. What happens if the wire is pinched under the vehicle (assuming that the cables are routed under) and touches the body? Well the fuse under the hood makes sure that more than a certain amount of current doesn't come from THAT battery. But what about the batteries in the back? Current can also flow from THAT direction too and your car will STILL go up in flames. So things should look a little like this [FRONT BATTERY]---{FUSE}=============================fully protected wire===================================={FUSE}---[bACK BATTERIES] makes sense sean?....sorry for the lecture. lol
Slinky
Dont worry bout the lecture, it makes perfect sense. im always so cheap i dont like to go buy fuses but i need to lol. AlpineGuy87
does make sense! i see what you mean! so running wires under the car you should definately fuse both ends.. especially if you have battery at both ends.. I dont have battery at both ends, but im sure i will eventually when i get the moeny! lol.. 06 SCION tC
sean 371
Yea, I don't have any second batteries at the moment. So that's where I was comin from. I understand what you mean tho.
