OK.......... DECAF and I have been working on a box design for my 4 18" HDC3A's, and I just wanted to show it off for 1 reason, DECAF obviously has an excellent mind set for doing boxes, and designs. Perhaps throw Kris a few bones, and he'll help you out. I don't know if he has any free time on his hands to do this, but i'm sure he'll chime in and throw out a few replies. I thank you very much Kris for all your hard work, and time you have invested into this (and helping me out with my 1000's of PM's)

Here are some pictures to show off Decaf's quality in his designs. If only I can build it as-well as these pictures look LOL!

Box is 24cuft / 420sqin port / 36Hz (DJ recommended this tuning)

nice!!

sucks that i operate CAD for a living and i still cant do sketchup very well. Granted, its ROOF-CAD but still, im on my 9th year and i only know MY program, too hard to grasp others for some reason. I did the tutorial and got the basics like that one house thing.... but i could use a human tutor for some basic box lessons. Not the design part but how to get it on sketchup.

I cant understand how that sketchup program works either. I mean, I have spent endless hours trying to figure that damn program out.... I've come to the conclusion that I do better work in microsoft "PAINT" LOL!

Decaf does some fine work.....I cant take 1% of the credit on this.

Agreed... AutoCAD still seems easier than sketchup to me after useing it for four years.

But back on topic! design looks gooooooooooood.

so obviously, if anyone needs some help with a box let me know

(and newsl1 better stick with the box design, this is the 2nd one) :friends::aggressive::friends:

bracing redone

side2x4.jpg

top view with new bracing

top2x4.jpg

build it like a tank and the numbers will come... and this box will be resin+matted on the inside... otherwise i might have gone more ellaborate on bracing

this design is basically a rectangular box with a external slot port if you will... just not one u can change the tuning as it will be fixed to the box... the angled piece with AudioQue on it might not even be the final box... but i like that you can add some extra flare to that piece even tho its not part of the box, just aesthetic

ideally this will be a more efficient design than one huge rectangle with a slot port... because the port is so big the volume above the port if the box was just a big rectangle is almost useless and its 5cuft of air that will likely be ignored by the subs... again because the port is so big...

and its 442.5sqin of port... ~17.5-18sqin/cuft depending on what bracing and 45s newls uses

dj suggested 24cuft and 16-20sqin of port... this box will hover around 24-25cuft@36-37hz

Its funny, problem with sketchup is its so easy to use, lol. I took a course on Pro-E if youre familiar with it. Its similar to solid works. I cant use AutoCAD to save my life, and it only took me a few min to learn sketchup. Sketchup reminds me of when i had to use Pro-E Wildfire 3.0. Just the way everything was setup and layed out for ya. But Sketchup is way more user friendly.

woman..cant live with em...cant shoot em...guess were all fucked

You might be a Redneck if you use your leftover gutters for a speaker box port...
