I mean the first minute is ok but that thing just really starts digging deeper and deeper in your earhole till you cant stand it no more. Seems like it does it with relative ease....16 12's on 8 amps.........gotta love it.
neuspeedescort
no you wouldnt have "personally done it" like that..... because you cant. I cant either. The top of the port has no access. Thats the only reason i may have to go back to the bolts to begin with. If i would have known for sure how i was going to do all this i would have fastened the port FIRST then wrapped it.......but i didnt, as usual, i was freestylin and doing whatever came to mind. I did practice a few times with the groove-trick before i tried it on the box itself though. I figured if i messed up trying, i only lose a small piece instead of a large one.........which i did LOL, took 2 tries to nail it. No matter what, it will be good, im not sweating it. Terminating the vinyl around the port like i did, was the hard part and honestly a little stressful too. anyway, i appreciate the suggestions from everyone but i really dont need em! thanks anyway though! well played sir! i had never really looked closely at you larger port design until just now after you responded to me. so the bottom would have worked like that but not the top. well my .02 was only about 50% worthful. keep up the good work steve. n8ball2013
steve what was the process for getting it to tuck in the cut out like that? looks like you just used a straight cut and then sunk the skin into it? Is that it? Also why not get some nice stainless steel bolts or T-nuts and fasten it on with them? Use it as an accent and then use the same style for the woofers? I'm sure itwouldnt be hard to tie it all together. meade916
actually i tucked the vinyl into the groove and used 18ga black stinger wire as a "backer-rod".....i shoved it down in there halfway till it was tight, then i trimmed off the excess vinyl (after it "loops around the wire").....then once it was flush i pushed it down the rest of the way so you cant see it. Its locked into place pretty good, good enough for me to tug on it hard while i was pulling the wrinkles out Quote All SMD products + MORE available at my store here! https://wccaraudio.com/ Subscribe to My Youtube Channel! NEUMAN yes, sides and bottom would work but not the top. Even then, im not useing T-nuts, those are threaded inserts so i would have to completely do it all over again. Im better off (if it was possible) just using wood screws from the inside out and use the vinyl to seal it (like the weatherstripping used to). Its 1/8" padded so it should stay sealed pretty nicely. meade916
just cleaned out my work area because i hate starting a new day in a filthy, dusty mess ....with tools strewn everywhere and shit - so now i have a clean slate to start with but i need to decide if i even feel like working still. Part of me just wants to kick back and watch some NFL. Maybe ill go get me a nice tv for my work area and then work once that is all going. I think i will do that!! A cool little 32" flat screen, 720p will do for the work area and fairly cheap too!!! Off to the store for some "materials" :D Quote All SMD products + MORE available at my store here! https://wccaraudio.com/ Subscribe to My Youtube Channel! Over 1,000,000 subscribers strong!
