Well....you did the first step before purchase and that was to ask.

The next step would be to listen to these guys, they will get you there.

Third step would be "hands on"! You do the work!

With the knowledge on this board and the friendship, you will be a winner hands down!

Now start posting pics of where it's going and what it's going in!

Yeah i would except i went out took pictures of my truck and the area its going to go into and now i cant find my damned data cable for my digital camera and my computer dont have a card reader on it ill post em soon as i get a usb card reader for my computer but i can give ya a crash course idea of where it is going and that is the back of my 1999 Chevy Silverado ext cab

so ive got rough dimensions of 24-30ish inches from back of the front seats to the back cab wall and about 48-50ish inches across and around 36-48ish inches from cab floor to ceiling to work with more than aample room for a decent system as least i think it is ha ha who knows given this is my first atempt at a competition level stereo as i have begun to sound like a broken record abot that i apologise i just dont want to bite off more than i can chew ya know

yea and not a budget that makes him cheap out on an amp. we arent talking a 2k budget here. 5k can get you some real nice equipment so why settle on bargain basement stuff when you can get the best out there and within your price range.

i can understand everyone wanting to save money so recommending somethign cheap that works for them, but any day of the week if i can afford it i'll buy a big box amp that does reliable power over AP/PA/and the other bargain companies out there.

Ive been there i had hifonics, power acoustiks, audiobahn, and pretty much anythign else you can think of....in the long run pay the little bit more and get a quality made and reliable product.

now im not saying audiopipe isnt reliable, im just saying that with a 5k budget i wouldnt spend 2 to 3x on subwoofers what i would on an amp thats the backbone for those subs. this is what i cant understand about people on this and many other boards

Your willing to spend a grand on subs then when the amp for those subs is a grand you want a 300 dollar amp. doesnt make alot of sense theres a ton more that goes into a quality amplifier then most of the subs that are the boners around here.

fully agree with you on this you deffinately get what you pay for and i have seen that alot on this and several other audio forums ppl run 1k-1.5k for subs but pay maybe a quarter of that on a amp which is in my book an insult to the subs and yourself really you buy a highend sub you then likely need high end drive devices i have gotten burned on buy low and hope for the best which is why now instead of having the 10k i had originally planned on using for my audio build i have to cut it in half so that i can fix my air ride suspension on my truck but live and learn really this is why im redoing both the air ride AND audio instal on myself after talking to you guys on here im pretty sure i can handle the build up of a killer system and hopefully make it out to a competition and place which would be SICK but yeah again a huge thanks to everyone for the help on this much  to all of ya

That's a good budget to get loud

I would personally pick up 2 of these http://www.db-r.com/sell/store2/index.php?...products_id=210

for $1110 you get a one year warranty and great service in my opinion. I ran my SAZ1500 i got from db-r at .5ohm for almost a year off a stock alt and Powermaster D2400 with no problems.

As far as subs go I like james' idea of 2 18s ported rather than running it sealed

I like Sundown Nightshades

I have run DC subs as well and they weren't bad either

I don't have any experience with DD subs but I haven't seen any complaints on loudness of their products

incrimnator Audio is another company I wouldn't mind trying I have heard 2 different 150+ setups and I was impressed on the sound quality as well. Both tuned in the low 30s though

with the smallest dimensions you gave 48W 36H 24D puts you at roughly 18cuft before subs and port displacement assuming you double all the wood up with 2 sheets of 3/4.

Wires you can get from Knukoncepts or Darvex both great companies to deal with and competitive pricing.

Alts- I run an ohio generator alternator if i didn't get such a good price on it i would have gone with DC Power or Mechman both companies can more than likely get you a dual alt bracket too.

Ha ha yeah i plan on it asap but i need to get my suspension setup right before i dive into the stereo build up and at this point i need to find some guys (since most of my guys that i thought were friends turned out to be a bunch of ppl with similar interests to me and that was about the closest to friendship it got) to help me tear the bed off truck cause i cant rightly do it my self but im determined to get the whole thing turned out hopefully over winter so come spring/summer im ready to cruise loud and low my two favorite custom points on vehicles ha ha

the only other thing i forgot to ask about is with the whole secondary alternator which im going to have to run what is the best way to go abotu settting that up i read ppl doing multiple "runs" im assuming from alternators to battery bank or should i dedicate the additional alt to the battery bank or make the a run from both to the battery bank as well what size alt would be my best bet a 275 or 300+ amp sorry to mention and remember this so long into the help end of things i thought i understood it all but as i do more research on it im getting lost in it ha ha i just need a clarification really
