4k rms what do i need?

Recommended Posts

ok, what would i need to run 4k rms? like alt wise and power wire? and i think i want a high idle output alt. so i dont know what the highest amperage those can put out are and if i would need an aftermarket batt.

200 amp+ alt+couple g31 batts would do it fine, i ran nearly 5k on 200 amp+3 batts all day long, 45 minutes to an hour straight no problems

i would like to stay away from extra batts if i could, i would like to run a stock batt with the necessary alt if possible? but im not sure if i will be able to do that. just wondering, to figure out what i need do i just add all the ampers from like all my car functions, with my head unit, and amplifiers?

if you get an absolutely monster alt then you could prolly keep it down to one extra battery so a 300amp alt + a kinteik 2400

if you really are looking for 4k rms and we'll say the amp is 80% efficient your electrical will need to be able to support 5000 watts (5000 * .80 = 4000)

please correct me if im wrong

so 300amp @ 13v = 3900 watts

a 2400 is 123ah so 123 * 13 = 1600

so with that you could support 5500 watts total

minus some because of course your car needs some of that power to run etc

and this doesnt figure in any mid/highs, just the 4k for your subs

this is just a rough outline, and again correct me if im wrong.

also there is plenty of videos under the hifonics section with mike styers doing some tuts about stuff like this.

hope this helps

1/0 power, and depending on your car, I might suggest keeping your stock alt and adding a second alt where your ac pump or something used to be.

A second battery would be a good idea

i dont want to have to redo your whole math but a car is gonna take up like 50-70 amps for actually running the car and other stuff.

ahh hell ill do it anyways. 240a*14v=3360w

123ah*14v=1722

*this is all assuming very little voltage drop, hence the 14v i used* equals all out to 5082w.

13v would equal out to 4719w
