Cdizzle
I used to have an AMD 3200+ single core processor and had it over clocked with not problems, then i upgraded to a 939 mobo with a 3800+ X2 dual core AMD processor and tried to overclock to 2.4GHz (stock = 2.00), I had the voltage set at 1.375 Volts. Windows booted up fine and I could play games, but within about 10 min of playing a game, it would just freeze. cursor wouldnt move or anything, I was wondering if someone could tell me what the problem is. Until I find a solution I have set the Clock speed to default, same with voltage. Help please? Quote Damn Thiefs

audiofanaticz
You can overclock dual cores, my buddys is oced to hell, altho I forget what his specs are. Its probolly not your cpu, most likely your ram speed maybe maxing out, your ram timings maybe to fast, your cpu and or ram might not be getting enough juice, you may have your htt set to low or too high. Its really hard to say. Overclocking takes time to get your computer too run stable. Id deff say to flash to the newest bios version on your motherboard. Id turn off the amd utilities such as aibooster or whatever if you have it. Id turn off every setting in bios that is set to auto such as voltages, multipliers, and what not. But it be better to know what motherboard, and ram you are using also.
civichatch
You can overclock dual cores no problem. First thing you want to do is make sure you have a good heatsink. Try raising the voltage a bit more. Sounds like an overheat problem to me though. I used to get the same thing on my old pentium 4. I just added a Zalman 9500 and it worked perfect. meade916
its nearly impossible to overclock dual cores, sorry to tell you this i overclocked my Quadcore 2.66 to 3.47 NO problem at all. Im watercooled though so its easier to keep the processor chillen'. Keeping that processor cool is probably the most important thing when it comes to overclocking. That and making sure u have enough voltage to the CPU.
