what are some ideas for holding my box in place in my trunk besides drilling through the trunk and into the box?

Lots and Lots of velcroe... like, the whole underside of your box! And make sure you get an industrial strength with large hooks, not the flimsy stuff

You could attach right-angle metal tabs on the bottom corners of your box, have threaded bolts coming up through the floor, and secure the tabs to the bolts with nuts. Just a suggestion.

we had this problem in my buddys car, he has easy replace headlights and all that at the rear bumper and so we just got some old angle iron i had laying around with bunch of wholes already drilled into it unscrewed the nuts placed the angle iron over screwed them back in (did for both sides) and used a ratchet strap and she holds tight

I've always used med-large L clamps but you said u didn't want to drill into the box or body. You could use the ratchet straps as mentioned and they work pretty well, but they are very visable. I also knew someone who built a false floor and actually glued the underside of the enclosure to the false floor. It worked great and after it was all carpeted you couldn't tell that it was done. But obvious downside is that you can't move the enclosure without having to tear it out and start from scratch for the most part.
