BlakSS Posted December 9, 2009 Author Report Posted December 9, 2009 the jl amp will have a higher resale value, but i dont see much of a power difference between the two. why are you switching? i like the fact that is much smaller and can be hidin anywhere also my bass knob has been acting up and dont really like the fact that it doesn't exactly shut the bass completely off,act like a bass boost.. as far as the look goes its clean and stealthy looking..is it wasnt for the bright ass blue light in front lol
audiofanaticz Posted December 9, 2009 Report Posted December 9, 2009 myself i rather have the pdx due to footprint but as said both are nice amps same here. The small footprint, plus the fact that if you run more pdx amps they are all the same size and stackable. very nice tiny amps that work great in cramped spaces. The only complaint I got about alpine in general is CEA rating crap. I hate it soo much.... You can look at CEA ratings being good and bad. CEA 2006 rating is outdated is an outdated standard. It holds all compliant amplifiers to a said power standard at 14.4 volt. I think a more realistic testing voltage would be 13.8 volts (but then most the current CEA amps wouldnt do claimed power). The extra money it costs the audio company to brand their products with this rating will be paid for by higher prices. The only good think I see coming from these ratings are novice audiophiles knowing they are getting what they paid for wattage wise, and not some amp like a sony 4 channel that says 1200WATTS!!! that really only does 60wrms by 4 if your lucky, and would never see that claimed 1200watts or even half that power.

actafool4187 Posted December 11, 2009 Report Posted December 11, 2009 i'm a jl guy, so i stay keep the 1000/1. if you already have that amp, why would you wanna trade it for something similar? i could see maybe if you were getting like an amp AND a sub in the trade, but not just swapping amps. either way it's up to you though in the end Pioneer AVH P5900DVD JL Audio XR525 CSi Components (Kickpanels) Infinity Reference 6020cs Components (Doors) JL Audio 12W7 Subwoofer JL Audio e1800D Amplifier JL Audio e4300D Amplifier
jizazz12 Posted December 12, 2009 Report Posted December 12, 2009 JL charges a flat rate of 180.00 to fix the amp providing the amp has the serial number on it,if it doesn't they can do one of two things (a) they can send it back to you without fixing it or ( they will charge you a fee to put a new serial number on it i think it's 25.00 or 50.00 not sure plus the shipping to them out in Arizona. but for 180.00 in most cases i think it's worth it and you also have a ninety day warranty once you get it back. i had to send my 450/4 to get fixed and they took care of me. 2007 Chevy Impala LS 1 Crescendo 3KWP 1Crescendo C1000/4 2 DC lvl 4 15's with lvl5 dual .7 coils 1Audio Control Matrix 1 Pioneer P880PRS 1 300 amp Iraggi alt All power runs done with Knu flex 0/1 guage 1 optima yellow top under the hood 1 XS 5100 and two Deka's in the trunk 4 Crescendo MP-8 mid bass drivers 2 DB Drive p5 5 D Pro Audio tweeters

benz280se Posted December 12, 2009 Report Posted December 12, 2009 i have a 100/1 in my benz. i just replaced the us amps 400 that i had in there and i am very happy. i have long been a fan of jl amps because of thier flexibility and reliablility i have also had a jl 500 on various setups in my cars since the amp first came out, never had a problem with that either and i drove the piss outta that one. and when i got in an accident and the electrical input got smashed they replaced it with new board. altogether shipping and repair $250. if you are just looking for a smaller footprint amp then go with the alpine because they have very reliable products, but if your just switching just to do it imo stick with the jl. my .02
