Good 1500W at 1-Ohm amps?

Really.... Hmmm......

Now I think I'm back to square one.... I'm just looking for something around the price of the 1200D and the Hifonics that does a lil over 1500RMS at 1-Ohm.

What does the 1200D do actual at 1-ohm? anyone know?

I'd just try to talk to Jacob about it if you're really interested in the 1200D. He'll give you the lowdown on it.

He tested ALL his amps wired to .5 ohm, but if you look at all the calculated impedences (other than the 1200d which wasn't calculated, but I'm sure was close) they were all above 1 ohm. I don't see how this is much different from companies like RF and Kicker giving birthsheets showing their amps to produce power over their rated specs at a single ohm load. I'm no expert on this, but it seems similar to me.

I'd definitley invest in the refurbed sundowns, looks like they only have the b stock at an insanely low price. But unless you really are picky about your amp looks and want to have the amp displayed to other people, i dont think it would matter that much at all. I personally run an eD Nine.1 amp, its 1200W @ 1ohm @ 12.5V, and it works great, but the sundown amps definitley are better.

So more than likely this ain't gonna do more than 1500 at 1 ohm? I didn't know or realize it was tested at .5 ohms to make 17xx power.

For the value of the Hifonics, I think I'll stick with that unless Jacob e-mails me back with good info.

i own the sundown SAE-1200D and a hifonics brutus 2610

the sundown is a god damn powerhouse. it pushed my level 4s almost as hard as my brutus currently does.

you will see atleast 1200 watts out of the sundown, and may see up to 1500-1600 out of it.

the price of the sundown makes it hard to pass up. im selling mine for $200 shipped, which is considerably cheaper than the hifonics...

there is a pretty identical test useing the two amps. both move my level 4s pretty hard!

I'm really not sure, man. Here is the point I was trying to make:

Jacob did power tests on all his amps. He wired them all to .4375 ohm and tested them and measured the amp voltage and calculated wattage, actual impedence, etc. If you read the amp clamp Tests thread you can see it all. Anyways, when he measured and calculated all his power ratings, it was after impedence rise, and the calculated impedences were all above 1 ohm.

OK, then you have companies like RF, Kicker, etc. that give you birthsheets showing their amps doing more than rated power. But, how do they test this? I'm assuming it's not the same way Jacob did it (in real-world conditions). They probably rate it at a single resistance (1 ohm, 2 ohm, etc) and get their wattage numbers without having to deal with impedence rise, etc.

So I'm thinking that he wired it to .5ohm knowing that with rise his amps would be seeing about 1 ohm when everything was said and done.

Now I'm far from an expert but I'm assuming that this is at least somewhat true. If' I'm wrong I hope someone corrects me.

In the end just get the amp that you are comfortable with and is within your price range. If the SAE1200D was truly on capable of, say, 1300watts instead of 1500w, how much difference do you think that would really make in real life? Do you think you'd even be able to tell the difference? I'm not sure if you could, but I guess just knowing that your amp can actually do XXXX watts can subconsciously have an effect on how happy you are with your results.

Good point R Mac 1 !

1200 - 1500 : you won't notice anything, unless you're going to compete !!!

The saz 1500 would be the best choice, you will get at least 1200 real watts with the sae 1200.

I read dozens of stories about the Hifonics amps : if you're on a budget only !!!
