WaTTz305
ok i have this old jbl power series amp, and it always worked fine until one day i put it on a plane cause i had to move , and from that day on when it turned on it just went straight into protect. so i opened it up and nothing seemed burnt but i did notice a little red wire unhooked. this red wire goes to where the rca's go, theres 2 red wires its the one right next to the blk and right next to the green wire. its not connected to were its supposed to be. could this be whats shooting the amp into protect? Nightshade
Maybe someone that handled your luggage on the plane thought it was a bomb and tried to defuse it. Did I say bomb? Ndnkobra
I'm assuming the amp doesnt work with those red wires unhooked? try to solder those bad boys back into where they are supposed to go and see if that does the trick, it couldnt hurt as long as you do it properlu
R_Mac_1
Without knowing anything about the inner workings of amps, I wouldn't think that a wire used to carry the RCA signal (presumably, beings you said that's where it connects) would cause an amp to go into protect. I would think it would just cause that RCA plug to not work. But, like I said, I'm pretty ignorant to the world of amp guts. 2002 Pontiac Bonneville SSEi Pioneer DEH-P6000UB Alpine SPX-17REF 6.5" components (active) Sundown SAX-50.4 Sundown z15 (3 cubes @ 35 hz) Sundown SAX-1200D 2006 Buick Rainier CXL AWD V8 Stock Bose system 12" Alpine Type E in aeroported box Profile AP1000M
cqtama
im not an amp expert but common sense tells me its some sort of power wire since it red and if its just floating around the inside of the amp could bearcing on something else and causing the amp to short itself out. i would figure out what that wire goes to and solder it back where it belongs R.I.P '01 blazer you treated my ears well until your transmission blew up.
