its the sun shell on them. the gears on it just strip out. thats the problem with mine. they arent complete shit, cause thats their most popular tranny too. installed in almost every rwd.

that and the overdrive lock out valve is plastic and the ball bearing inside wears a grove large enof to allow fluid past letting over drive slip. They took out a couple pressure plates for the v6 model. Theres a ground issue in a cercut board in the tranny it self. the list goes on and on :(

My F150 did the same thing a while back few weeks after i bought it off my neighbor. was leaving school and pedal to the floor all rpms. Shut it off, bam, reverse worked fine again, drive.. ya nada. Shut it off, drive worked fine.. until i was crossing an intersection, then all rms, literally rolled across the damn intersection with an 18 wheeler coming.

Ya i was about to blow that pos up when i got home and post vids on youtube... well not really, but it sounded fun.

Anyways turned out my screen was just clogged up. Got a friend to flush that bad boy, replace my tranny fluid, and i was off. Still driving year and a half later...

Though i know i will eventually need a new tranny... But truck was used for towing, and long distance driving everyday for work, by me and the previous owner. So ya i feel ya Steve, gl bro.

Steve, i talked to my mechanics about gearing that rear end also... they love the sight so much, they sayed that they would love to do your ride on the side! with them big ass rims, and all that beat some 4:56's and a trac lock will help that running gear!

will these gears help out enough to boost the gas mileage back up? lol.

I think it might decrease gas mileage actually lol, if he's gearing down he'll be running at a higher rpm at crusing speed. I'm not a doctor so don't take my word for it lol

no. considering all the weight of the system, the weight of the bigger rims, the bigger rims in general. itll help out the engine, which might increase his gas mileage a little bit. it takes A LOT of strain off the engine when you put gears in.
