teamace24
Not sure if any of you guys are from los angeles, but i can tell you its a lot worst here seeing that there are countless shops everywhere. Before i knew how to build my own box, i went to a very known audio shop that even has a show here late night (like 1 am) and i seen they had all these luxurious cars they were working on like lambos so i thought they would know their stuff. I told them i wanted a simple custom ported box for two fifteens and after they tried to instead sell me some JL W3 saying they would be louder than two 15 AQ i was planning to buy, they told me before even measuring it was going to be $600 to start and a labor charge after they are done. I told them why so much and they said, ' well if you want it done the right way and not some half assed job you have to pay for it.' The guy wasnt even sure what tuning meant and he then proceeded to demo me his car of 4 W3 and 2 Jl 1000/1 thats way over $1500 and it sounded decent but not for that money. After that i joined this forum and nver looked back i can go to any shop and just laugh now at how much bias and bad info there is. 1st Setup(SOLD):2007 GMC YukonPioneer Avic F90bt Audiocontrol Epicenter2 Audioque SDC2.5 15 subs8.7 cubes at 37hz build DONEAudioque 1200d (Audioque 1200d Sold, similar performance to my ap1500)Diamond Audio Hex 6.5 Mids n TweetsCerwin Vega Exl 400 4 channel Bridged(also have MTX 4004 not being used)1 Run of power Knu Fleks 4 Gauge2 Cheap stock Battery setup2nd Setup (SOLD):2007 GMC YukonPioneer Avic F90bt Audiocontrol Epicenter2 15 Kicker cvx (maybe two SA 15 in future)7 cubes net tuned at 34hzAlphasonik Old school 1600rms (ap 1500d sold GREAT Budget amp)JBL 6.5 Power Series Components, Infinity Kappa 6.5 3 ways, and 2 Kicker KS Tweets (LOUD)Cerwin vega exl4001 run knu Fleks OFC 0 gaugeBig 3 done1 Odyssey 1500, 1 optima yellow top d31
Hotdog
There are no shops in my town.. there is a couple in towns not to far away and they are good shops. The one that use to be in my town went out of business about 10yrs ago after the original owner sold the shop to one of the employees. Problem was new owner could not get any credit from the vendors so he had to buy everything up front, since he had to buy everything upfront he had to keep a small inventory which hurt business because he did not have a lot of things in stock but could order it. crazyfrazz09
yeah, that can be a huge problem too, because on the business side you dont want to have a huge invintory of shit you cant move. so you start to go with the whats popular on the streets trend so you can move the product and that where you start to loose real street people and get the posers. so do you make profit and give in or try to stay true yet make it hard on yourself? business is a bitch! 1998 jeep grand cherokee future teardown and rebuild: 2-15.4 orion hcca's sub amp undecided 2 sets of components 1-concept amp (mids/highs) undecided h.o. alt 2-yellow tops
cqtama
i have one shop here on long island that ill go to on occasion. depends what im looking for. he took car of me when i was buying my t1's, buy one get one free, how could you not buy them. and he's really cool also got a kinetic 600 for like $120 wich isnt bad at all. its the only shop ill recomend people too. theres another one about a mile away that tried to sell my friend some bull shit off brand jl subs and lucky for him i was there to tell the guy to fuck off, he also wanted $4 for an 8 guage ring terminal. bottom line, honest shops are hard to find. better off learning how to do it yourself R.I.P '01 blazer you treated my ears well until your transmission blew up. crazyfrazz09
yeah, i learned that early! i went to one shop cus they cut good deals on subs. but they would get mad and tell me that if i installed them myself i would loose the warranty. i didnt care i was young but still knew a little about what i was doing. i heard that same shop would program a 3rd remote to an alarm on some of the cars that had decent equipment so they could steal half of it back. because when you bought anything they had a form to fill out with basic info on it. fuckers! 1998 jeep grand cherokee future teardown and rebuild: 2-15.4 orion hcca's sub amp undecided 2 sets of components 1-concept amp (mids/highs) undecided h.o. alt 2-yellow tops
