Be carefull when disconnecting battery!

Recommended Posts

if you leave it disconnected for too long your ecu will "forget" your throttle body position and your car wont run. i dont know what cars this pertains to but it happened to me and i have the vag-com to run a throttle body alignment.

so just for disconnecting my battery i have to pay for a tow and pay to get it rectified. and the only way i knew it was throttle position control malfunction was from the obd II scanner i had to buy ($60) because my car wouldnt run to drive to auto store to check CEL.

so if your do disconnect the neg. dont leave it off for to long...

I've never heard of this. I know sometimes the PCM may have to re-learn some parameters to run right, but I've never heard of it not running.

First body style durangos had the same problem. If the battery goes dead, the ecu forgets how to run the engine. You had to start the motor, press the gas pedal and hold 2000 rpms for up to 5 minutes to relearn. Stupid Durango.

So, I don't have anything cool here yet. It's no big deal
