kweezinarts
if you leave it disconnected for too long your ecu will "forget" your throttle body position and your car wont run. i dont know what cars this pertains to but it happened to me and i have the vag-com to run a throttle body alignment. so just for disconnecting my battery i have to pay for a tow and pay to get it rectified. and the only way i knew it was throttle position control malfunction was from the obd II scanner i had to buy ($60) because my car wouldnt run to drive to auto store to check CEL. so if your do disconnect the neg. dont leave it off for to long... AssKicker
How long was it disconnected? I had mine off for about 3 hours and no problems besides having to reset my windows and locks (only a G37 thing)
Team-Atomic-Andrew
sounds like a german car issue, was this a VW?
JayP
sounds like a german car issue, was this a VW? Probably so. I drive a vw, and I'm on the vw forums and always see the term "VAG-COM" so it may be.

R_Mac_1
I've never heard of this. I know sometimes the PCM may have to re-learn some parameters to run right, but I've never heard of it not running. kweezinarts
its a 99 audi a4 (peep the sig ) but in doing powersearches online ive found it to be somewhat common, yes it seems like its only audi/vw lol of course. it was disconnected for probably 3-4 hours during new amp install. during orig. amp install i had it off for a while too and this has never happened to me b4 nor have i ever heard of it until friday... chevy lol... ive tried every little trick out there theres nothing that can do a TBA except vag-com... Loaferboy
First body style durangos had the same problem. If the battery goes dead, the ecu forgets how to run the engine. You had to start the motor, press the gas pedal and hold 2000 rpms for up to 5 minutes to relearn. Stupid Durango. Quote So, I don't have anything cool here yet. It's no big deal
