I know how you feel. I've been eyefucking a 645 forever now and I can afford it. I'm just scared lol. I guess I'll buy some cool toys first. I wouldnt be embarassed about the tools. They all do the same job. And have turned out some ridiculous shit! you built magazine worthy vehicles with them out of your damn garage. Let em talk shit because you aren't rocking a 20Grand matco tool box. Just point to the framed mag spreads. I know you wanna keep off making your own shop, but u could turn this into your version of 'Unique Autosports" J Quote "No poor dumb bastard ever won a war by dying for his country. kandiman71874
Very nice Steve. I see 2 things noone has mentioned yet. That seperate looking shop area, enclose it and make it a wood/glassing room with dust extracters. And while the wife may be happy to have a garage, backyard again, how did she feel about the commitment of this place? I know when I moved outta the garage to the 1st shop, mine had mixed emotions. And having a place to play (ramps and b-ball) will definatly help break any stressfull moments and give the kids a place to hang and have fun. And if you don't mind, I would like to come out and check it out sometime. I've never been to Cali (unless running thru the SanFran airport counts) and I am planning a trip probally next year and will be meeting up with Joe also. I have to agree with the separate shop area for wood working and body filler type work. I know the shops are separated but saw dust seems to make it through some odd ass places and the last thing you want is Roy bitching about getting some mdf dust on a project they are doing on the other side.. And on another note, i don't envy you on heating that place. Gas bills just in the 6 bay shop i work at can get retarded when the cold weather snaps in... Let me out there and Ill set you up with some nice oil fired burners to heat that bish up just have everyone bring you their oil after they change their cars oil, All you need is a couple good oil filters and a couple tweaks to the burner and depending on how much oil you can collect heating should just cost the electricity and maybe some extra fuel oil if you dont have enough. Im in the field and I highly recommend you spend the money at the beginning to get efficient stuff and it will pay for itself over a couple years. Here in new england so many garages and shops save boatloads of money by using old auto oil to heat their garages. granted, they do oil changes for people so they get tons of it but Im sure if steve put out the word he'd have no trouble with people bringing him quite a bit.
