However, a speaker being turned on..and frying in 10 seconds without playing music and completely going up in smoke is totally indicative of DC voltage being shot out of the rails on the amp. It's only a matter of time before it gets to 530 degrees and makes the coil glow and burn off the glue holding it together.

i didnt know this...

i mean i guess any woofer is capable of breaking, but i didnt know it wasnt even playing when it smoked. How can that be the subs fault? not taking sides, just axin'

did you wire up the amps in a MASTER/slave/slave/slave/slave etc configuration? I saw talk of gain matching the amps but if it was setup like that they really dont need to be gain matched with eatchother (bass amps).

again, not pointing fingers or anything like that, i was wondering how you did it even before i knew there was a problem

It could have been a DC shot from the amp. The woofer did not just blow right after 10 seconds as stated above. It had issues for a while before that happened.

I cant say what caused it until I get in there and take a look at the amp and sub. No one really can and thats what is upsetting me is that someone is quick to point fingers before anything is even evaluated.

Could be a few issues at play.

Yes they are all slaved from the first Master amp.

without even touching gains, all amps tested within a tenth of a volt output from eachother.

But when I did get the truck back from the other installer, the last set of 4 amps were much higher than the first 8 amps. The blown woofer is on this set.

I traced that issue to one of the amps on the blown woofer having RCA input and pass through problems so the slave/master was not working on those amps when the other installer had the truck.

Flaws, or no flaws. I actually loved looking at the build unfold and watching the videos on youtube since Ive been pretty time crunched to go thru a eighty+ page thread.

It actually even made me subscribe to your youtube channel... Lol

Anyways, I think wiring is ugly to look at.... I got a mess and a half in my truck, but its all behind the seats being hidden LOL

But I love to see stacks and stack of batteries espically XS Powers and when ran with a thick copper buss bar.. Drop dead sexy!!!

Im certain the amps on the ceiling is not the best place, but when you have 6 18s in a box (not wall) your really left without a choice on wear to stack stuff and use whatever space can be used.

Again, you gave it your all. You put tons of work, sweat, and tears into this build Im sure. You did a nice job and got it playing with respectable numbers. Made the customer/friend happy. Cant take that away from you at all! I mean really. Its not like you used copper plumbing T's to turn 1 piece of 1/0 wire into 2 pieces like was done on other vehicles. LmAO

BUT.......

Now Nick, he is extremely pompous, egotistical, thick headed, arrogant, and rude. He shows tremendous brand favoritism and it's impossible for him to ever have an unbiased opinion.

Ive been talking to nick for a couple years now easily.. He always seemed like a cool person to talk to and educated me well on products. Especially woofers I run, and why I had problems with them, how to eliminate the problems or reduce the failure rate, and ideas to change to make better improvements. Never took what he said personally...

But it came to a time I was just feed up with this well known company we deal at the shop and looked for a new product, and because of all the help Nick was willing to give me in the past with a brand that was not FI/AA I have chosen to run the AA woofers, and love them.

So saying what you said is not right ED imo.

You asked for criticism and Nick gave you things to think about.

All you did in return was insult him as a person.
