Elemental Designs nine.1...good or not?

So I got my sub today, its a copper coil AQ HDC3 12"

im really needing an amp, and i found a Elemental designs 9.1 for 200 shipped...good deal?

are these good, reliable amps?

and im thinking that it may be too powerfull, being that i've heard these push well over 1200 RMS @ 1 ohm (like 1600 ive heard some claim)....could it be too much for the Audioque 12", with just the copper coils? (in big ported box)

F/s: 2 custom made boxes, for 1 12" and 2 12" hit me up I'll let em go cheap

I've heard they're pretty decent amps...they test them and say they'll do rated power at 12 volts, so if youre electrical is doing over 12 volts, you'll see more power.

so i may be returning my AQ to the kid i bought it from, because after further inspection, is seems like the spider is completely off the bottom of the sub cone....is that normal for it not to be attached to the sub?

if not, what would be a good single 12" sub to run off this amp (without over powering the sub)

No...that's not normal.

You could try any sub that has a 1500 rms rating. Sundown Nightshade (or new Zv2), DC Level 4xl, another AQ, etc. You could also look into PSI subs. I've been looking at them over on CACO and they look like really nice subs.

the kid i bought it from is getting it fixed at a local car shop..

now my only question is, is that if he messed it up with 1200 rms, wont i do the same with well over 1200 rms?

There's a lot of factors that could have messed it up. 1200 watts is pretty low for an HDC3. Most people run well over 1500 watts to them.
