chewie
hey guys.. i want some input on this subject.. i have a single 15 that i will be using for the street b class i will be building a burp box and was wondering what would be the best way to go about this.. heres the car.. now.. the way i was thinking was sub facing forward on the passenger side.. in line with the meter and the port out the side facing the rear drivers quarter panel.. the sub has a straight shot to the meter with the front seat reclined.. yes it reclines almost horizontal. heres the box i had in mind. 3.4 cubes tuned to 48.7 hz or would i be better off doing a different design.. Skullz
Wouldn't it be better to use an aeroport instead of the square port? Quote 01 Ford focus ZX3 Pioneer AVH-X491BHS PPI PC 4800.2 Morel Maximo 6.5" x2
chewie
i havent had much luck finding anything bigger than 4 inch pvc and i dont have the skills to router out the rings to build a wood port and with the square i can build bolt in exchangeable ports.. Neo_frog
You don't always need PVC though. You could use sonotube for bigger diameters. The design sounds good though. I say try metering with different orientations. Any reason you chose 48.7hZ? My method has been shaving 1/2" off at a time and remetering peaks with sweeps at 1/2 volume until I found the highest regardless of the frequency. Quote Need an install? -Hobby-
sonotube lol Sonotube is the shit. Just dont let it get wet, It will fall apart. Putting a layer of fiberglass over and in it would be a good idea if you go that rout. Ask a plumber in your area the name of the major materials supplier near you. Home depot type stores only carry a fraction of the available sizes you can purchase. They will have or be able to get bigger sizes of PVC for sure. If you want something lighter than schedule 40 ask if you can purchase foam core PVC. Much lighter and easier to cut. A rectangle or square port would work well but a round one will look perty. I havent messed with these kinds of boxes so I cant comment on the design. Most of the boxes I have seen in hatchbacks are sub up though. Spin the box 360 deg to see where it meters better.
