Recommended Posts

The Elite consoles can & do malfunction. It's not rare or uncommon. In fact, it should be expected...

PS3 FTW man Ive always wanted a 360 but i would hate to have this problem, my friends 360 actually went bad recently too. one of our managers at work actually fixed for him tho.

A lot of ps3s fail, too. The YLOD is fairly common with the older fat models. The slims haven't really been out long enough to tell on those. I had one of the original 8O gig fat models that got the YLOD. Fixed it myself with a heat gun (solder re-flow) and it worked for about 4 months. Died again and this time the fix worked for about a month. The third time it wouldn't even turn back on after the fix so I just bought a slim.

So, although I'm a ps3 guy, I wouldn't talk too much crap because they fail a lot too. Not nearly as much as Xboxes, but they're not perfect.

failure rate for ps3 is 14 or so %. so theres quite the difference lol

Shit skittles. Fix my xbox, it dosnt have red ring but won't read discs

Sorry..thread jack/

eh, thats going to be a problem with the disk drive. i have never had to fix that. i would assume you just get a new drive and swap them but i heard they have to have matching codes. ask preston, when drew's xbox had that problem he figured out how to go about fixing it.

If I answered you in a well mannered, informative way, you asked a good question or had a good attitude. If I was an asshole, you asked a stupid question or you had a fucktard attitude... or I was in a bad mood.

How should i go about fixing it? I may have warranty idk, is there a quick way to fix it? i looked up online about glueing the graphics card back in with some glue, does that work?

anyone else have this problem what did you do?

if not, fuck it, im buying a new xbox at walmart, swapping the cases and returning the old one (with the new cases/ new serial numbers on it)

Call it in to Xbox, don't be a dick and freak out and rip off Walmart so we all have to pay for it. If it is under warrant you're fine, if not it's like a few bucks.

Jesus people. I've had like 3 RROD now. It isn't a big deal. It isn't time to start robbing banks.

All the towel trick does is shut it down for getting to hot and clears the red rings. But it will come back just like when u clear a code in your car its going to come back sooner or later. The Xbox gets hot but not hot enough to melt solder no matter what it says online. If that was the case the wider will go all over the place and it will fuck other this gs up

Exactly & X2. The only use of the towel trick is to get your xbox to work for a couple more days while you wait for the box to arrive to send it in.

People believe anything
