iceman1575
I've seen a ton of things that would have to be done to a standard GP GT to upgrade the engine for supercharging. Anyone wanna give me a basic idea on what to do if I wanted to add the supercharger from a GTP onto my GT? I've heard so much has to be done, but it's just got me in a confused loop. >_> Thanks POTATO!
wL<3bass
Lol I actually just got done last week swapping a GTP motor into an SE... Lemme find pics... edit: Uploading pics now, with the top swap you have to change the heads and the supercharger and get your ECU flashed for the swap, ZZ Perofrmance does a good job they are who did the flash on the swap I did... The alos have extras like the XP cam among other things. With just a top swap you will make more power b/c of higher compression pistons but the non-supercharged motors are nearly as beefy as the supercharged ones... Also the stock non-supercharged transmissions do not like power.... We are running one right now but it only has 50k on it... wL<3bass
Okay its in a 1997 Grand Prix SE, 4dr no wing = total sleeper. My brother and I did the swap for my dad... He got lucky and scored the complete running GTP motor for $250 and all it had wrong with it was a bad supercharger coupler which was a $30 30minute fix. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=web3rw4bjnk http://www.zzperformance.com/ Vehicle: 1997 S10 Blazer 4dr 4X4 Exterior: Rear End Bagged, Black Grill, Lifted 2" Amplifiers: Rockford Fosgate T8004 & T10001bd Batteries: 2 Stinger SPV35, Kinetik HC2400 Electrical: Big 3, DC Power 290amp Alternator w/ MLA at 15.5v Enclosure: 4.2 ft³ @ 33Hz 84sq.in. of port (20sq.in. per cube) Headunit: Eclipse CD3200 w/ 80G iPod Mids/Highs: Rockford T152s (a-pillars), Rockford T162s (doors) Subwoofers: 1 15" Fi BL Fully Loaded Wire: All 1/0g Kicker Hyperflex My YouTube Videos My Fiberglass A-Pillar Build My "Seamless" Looking Box Build My DD1508 T-Line Bandpass Build "Seamless" w/ Acrylic Windows (for '05 TrailBlazer) My Stealth 8" Fiberglass Build (for '05 TrailBlazer) My Build For A Friend's '08 Cobalt 15" BL Sealed Off From The Trunk My feedback/references... Shyne151
Did you look at my thread here: http://www.stevemead...-finished-pics/ Basically to do a top swap you need: new harmonic balancer for dual belts lower intake manifold off a l67 fuel rails off an l67 injectors off an l67 throttle body off an l67 heads of an l67 coil pack bracket supercharger idler pulleys most important someone who has access to a DHP or some sort of programming device to reprogram your pcm. Without this I would have been fucked. The person who did the swap with me was running a high 11s intercooled beast and is verrrrry good at tuning. I would also suggest throwing a 3" downpipe and some sort of intake on it.... with the higher compression of the L36 block you are gonna be getting bad KR... Mine turned out well... I'm put about 2500miles on it since the swap. Only thing I regret is not doing headers at the time... bummer. www.zzperformance.com - nice having them in michigan i get everything next day www.clubgp.com www.grandprixforums.net -Installer for Duke's Car Stereo 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix - Ported Eaton M90 S/C, 3.5" pulley, XS Power Headers, 1.9 Rockers, FWI, Poly Motor Mounts, Custom Tune. Wastehog
Yeah, you can gain quite a bit of flow on new headers and dual or bigger exhaust. Any one can notice how restrictive l36 manifolds are.. especially with 6 cylinders fighting for one pipe lol. 1985 Chevy Silverado Black and Silver SBC 350/700r4

97SSBlazer
My buddy Top swapped a GP GT. You had better find a good tuned first because if you don't you WILL burn a hole in a piston. It only took him a week. Now that its tuned and inter-cooled its WICKED fast. Of course this is only the case if you not swapping the entire engine from a GTP. There's a LOT of GP/GTP's in MI so I see like 100 a day lol. lower tuning is just hard. I was surprised how loud 145 sounds at 35hz, and how quiet 145 sounds at 50hz. -= 2005 Tahoe LT =-Head unit: Pioneer AVH-X5500BHSSource: iPad Mini in dash Subs: 2 T1 12's Sub Amp: T1500-1bdCPWire: Rockford Fosgate 1/0 awgSignal Cable: MonsterFronts:Stock Bose for now:)Rears: Stock Bose for now:)MIds/High amp: Stock Bose for now:) 2005 Tahoe Build Log: http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/172529-2005-tahoe-my-17th-vehicle/ 2001 Monte Build Log: http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/160030-2001-monte-carlo-my-16th-car-lol/page-2#entry25309381997 Tahoe Build Log: http://www.stevemead...oe-6-15-rf-15s/2001 Impala Build Log: http://www.stevemead...katzkin-inside/

You live in lansing... what do you expect the biggest 3800 performance parts company in the world is like 45min away from you inter-cooler = teh shit. The guy that did my swap with me makes phelonic intercoolers(gotta love engineers)... thats the next step(along with rockers) on my setup along with dropping a couple pulley sizes once we put it on -Installer for Duke's Car Stereo 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix - Ported Eaton M90 S/C, 3.5" pulley, XS Power Headers, 1.9 Rockers, FWI, Poly Motor Mounts, Custom Tune. Mosin
I've always been a fan of the 3800 supercharged motors. Especially the newer ones. Local guy around here has a fully built supercharged 3800 in his GTP. Here is a few pics: Derp.
