kirill007
And don't forget, 1500W at 1ohms or 4 ohms have the same effect on you're electrical.(although some amps are more efficient at 4 ohms.) rckstar
lol thanks guys, I think I should just stick to my 1000w rms amp. Maybe If I come across a 1200w at some stage. Quote my motto: hit it, quit it, never admit it
notorious97200
lol thanks guys, I think I should just stick to my 1000w rms amp. Maybe If I come across a 1200w at some stage. I run 2 sundown amps (1500 w for the bass and 320 for front speakers) on stock electrical : stock alt and stock batt. With no problem at all. But I don't know anything about my alt. I have upgraded (1/0 and 2/0) ground wire for my batt and for "engine to chassis". you can try to run a 1500 watts amp. Music is dynamic, you won't use 1500 watts every time. get a voltmeter and be careful. A friend of mine is running 4000 watts for the bass and 600 watts for his speakers on a 120 amp alt and a 5 years old Optima blue (big3 done) without problem. but, at iddle he can't play for too long, he has serious voltage drops. but when driving he stays at 14.4 v easily. with the engine off, he doesn't play more than 2 minutes!!! Daily driving is different from demoing at iddle or with the engine off !!! Quote black BMW X1 2.0 l 192 hp OEM head unit, Amplifiers : Audison AP 8.9 amp with integrated DSP and Ampere Audio 1200. BulletInjection
Just gotta watch how low your voltage drops. Like you don't want it to drop below 11volts. 11v? People have low standards, I don't let my system drop below 13v and I only idle at 13.4v.... thats not cool Quote My build: http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/ind...8920&st=100 http://www.youtube.com/Bulletinjection
cqtama
on that electrical i wouldn't run more than 1000, maybe 1200 watts with NO PROBLEM. any voltage drop below 12 volts is a problem, so for everyone saying no problem you might want to check that. i don't see stock electrical in any car supporting 1800 watts without serious drops and clipping the shit out of the amp. also yes kirill is right, different amps have different efficiencies and even the same smp run at different ohm loads has a different efficiency so you need to take that into account as well.
