TeamHT
Well, you can run them but that definitely won't be stable at full tilt for extended periods of time. I'm running 12000 watts rms with triple mechman 270amp alternators and six xs power d3100s. Quote Tell me...does this smell like chloroform to you? TeamHT
and just as an FYI more often than not the higher the peak max output the lower the idle output. Quote Tell me...does this smell like chloroform to you?

TeamHT
I would do 3 270xp alts with the 5 batteries Ha ha ha, stiff electrical huh? Lol OP, what I would suggest is a dual 270 alt setup with four d3100s. You could probably run 2 daily but if you really want to slam on the system is get 4. Of course triple 270 alts wouldn't hurt! Lol. What did you find out from mechman Quote Tell me...does this smell like chloroform to you?
Berto
and just as an FYI more often than not the higher the peak max output the lower the idle output. This is usually true, but recently I've seen some DC and MechMan specs that show their alts putting out about 75% of output by idle. TeamHT
Very true! But that's why i said more often than not. But I was refering mostly to 300+ amp alternators. I was looking into some BEASTLY alternator but the idle output was sad....lol Of course though, DC and mechman are just ahead of the game! Lol Quote Tell me...does this smell like chloroform to you? kingsuv
IMO both Mechman and DC are great companies to work with. As far as that bracket goes, That price ain't too out of line. I have an oil burner and it's a super tight fit to add anything to these diesels. Quote Designing, building, and shipping boxes. I mean the first minute is ok but that thing just really starts digging deeper and deeper in your earhole till you cant stand it no more. Seems like it does it with relative ease....16 12's on 8 amps.........gotta love it.
slim2fattycake
Would you be blasting it full tilt all the time? I think 2-4 D3100s and a 300 DC power alt is fine if you burp it once in a while for demos or whatever. Also, there has to be a reason why the OP's alt is 800 dollars. I don't think he's getting ripped off. Its different for different applications and vehicles.
