different cars have different alts, you could have a 60 amp alt on a honda vs a 150 amp alt on a suv... and if they dont have the electrical most of the time their shit will eventually burn up... people are telling you to get your electrical up to not fuck your shit up

I know its a no name, but It looks like it can handle the job done just for 2 15's. Its not like Im like Steve and running 4 18s on 30k watts. I'm getting 2 15's on an AQ2200.. That should be fine, correct?

Seeing as you have a 136 amp stock alt to start with that is a Denso unit, I am going to assume ( no info to prove other wise on that website) that the 180 amp alt you are looking at is nothing more than a hot rodded stock cased alt.

Typical problems you will run into with this are lower than needed idle output, and having to keep things wrapped up at all times to get any kind of decent power out of it. If you want to go cheap, Hey, we have all been there at one time, but those of us that learned to spend our money wisely the first time will tell you that if you are going to buy an alt, buy a good one and stop dickin around from the get go.

I feel you 100% man, but I just dont have the money. I can't be spending 300-400$ on an alt, 500$ on subs, and 400$ on an amp. Thats just to much for me. Thats why I dont want to buy an alt :/ . But hey, idk man. I wanna go with Fi's cause there the top product for subs, but then, Im debating if I should just get some other subs cause their cheaper. I was thinking about 1 BL 18.. But then again, 2 15's would probably slap harder, correct?

more voltage = more power 99.9% of the time... so sitting at the bare minimum means you are cheating your subs out of all that good wattage!!!

find out what alt your car comes with, and see how much voltage drop you have, as was said before, if its down in the 12s, and you want to stay in the 14s get the alt...

Sry to get off topic, but did you ever get your voltage back up, from the 12.3s?

welcome to the world of "proper" custom car audio. not everyone runs extra batteries or high output alternators btu those are the people who are probably not even running their systems efficiently or the way they should be. guy around town has an RF T4000 he runs on a stock alternator and 3 really cheap walmart batteries and tells me im an idiot for thinking his electrical isnt good enough. i guarantee you his amp is NOT putting out what it could be let alone a stable voltage that will allow him a lifelong use of his equipment.

i dont see a need for a new alternator for only 2200 watts but that would also depend on the stock alternator for your car, and how your wiring up your system. but youre comparing people on youtube and bestbuy audio department employees to people on SMD. a lot of people here are already different than your normal run of the mill audiophile. we prefer good numbers, full sounds, strong performance, and reliability. who wants to replace their amps every 3 months?

only if the alternator is capable of maintaining 15.3.

your not getting it, that will raise your voltage, but not your amperage output from your alternator.... 2 different things there man

I guess I'm the only one who says you don't need an alt yet. OP, do what you want. Can't afford and alt, get a decent battery for now. I'm sure no one else is gonna agree with me though

I agree with you cause I'm doing a 153.8 on a stock alt.... Granted I have 4 batteries to back it up but its still a stock alt with my amps dropping to 12.4 at full tilt. If i run my system full blast for about 3-5 min. then my amps start getting warm, but how often do you need to do that? And ill get the alt when i get the money. So i would go with a damn battery or 2 and wait till you get the money for the alt. Then you can do whatever you want with your system.
