I am going to go with a 6cuft per sub after displacements sub forward port up drivers side design. That has been my favorite of the 3 I have tried and im just not willing to keep throwing money into boxes right now. With the extremely nice installs with people that know how to build. Ive seen ONE that was inpressive. I just dont think a high end sub should HAVE to take near 5K to really get moving and get loud. Grante it may sound good, who doesnt want a sub like that to get loud too? Im not here bashing Codys build. Hes got skills and is doing great. Everyone knows there more to a sucessful build then just a woofer. All I said was i wasnt impressed, simple. I didnt say any obscene comments. While it might be apples and oranges I did a 46.8 (or a 48.6, maybe Derrick will remember) at 28hz on one XXX 4k at 2ohms 13.4 volts (that's less than 2kw). I do over 50 on 2 XXX 4k's at 14.9-12.6 (my other alt isn't back in yet) which is anywhere from 4400 watts to 6600 total depending on voltage. My amps blow ass, but it still gets it. Note that I'm talking about music I don't fart. As far as the subs moving goes, these mofo's are beyond stiff when they are new. Mine did and do move more than Cody's do though. 10 cubes, 33 hz (but peaks around 28 due to box location proximity to tailgate lowering tuning), and the port is like 19-20"x12"x12". I forget the exact dimensions... Rection Posted September 29, 2010 Report Posted September 29, 2010 well if I remember right everybody said there was no way you would hit a 150 with the cvx's to true, and it ended up being capable of a 151 bass race with the 2 cvx's on 1krms per sub. as i told steve on the phone when we were talkin about the smd 18, i dont care what people say, i can get the fuckin' sub loud. i know alot of people are gonna beat me up over this , but if i had the money and the space, id put a jackhammer in the car. im confident that sub in the correct enclosure would fuck shit up too, its just never been put in a proper install. cj18 could get the woofers loud as fuck in his truck, just not in that enclosure. its a fine looking enclosure and i bet its one hell of a sweet sounding install, but as far as overall output, just looking at the enclosure alignment makes me cringe. I have been into car audio for about 2 years and have learned alot but if you know anything that I can do that will make this better please tell me.

AA98hoe Posted September 29, 2010 Report Posted September 29, 2010 just curious cj have you considered a cut through? mite help the smds load a lil better. id like to see clamped power and imped rise. plus it will be one thing you could check off your list as a possible issue if you there isnt a problem. imo the smd dont meter well look at smokeumtires his shit pounds hard but doesnt put up big numbers. im curious what the lvl5s do for you in a direct swap, i think they will be louder but will they sound as good as the smds? thats your decision. the answer is what do you want a take your breath away make your vision blurr syetem that you can play all day? or something that puts up big numbers. for me i want both. lol and im pretty close to having it. but it took 4 boxes and 6 months to get. so good look. your skills are there now its just finding the right combination. if car audio was easy everyone would be doing 155s with 1amp and 2tens.
