Metering your vehicle, where and why

Ok so i had a thread up earlier and i came off crooked, didnt mean to...

i was being a bitch in the way i came accross and i appologize!

i had read a post after someone posted a bad ass video in the GroundPounders section No wall. and someone asked if that score was done "Legal" in an attempt to take away from that persons incredible score.

so i had to challenge that point because I disagree with that analogy. I believe we are in the sport Of SPL and our goals are to reach maximum Numbers, and have fun, (and yes with a standard), that standard applies to anywhere in front of the b-Piller because it gives the competitor the option to decide where he wants to put his meter (their Sweet spot and of Course the Port is Off limits.) and all vehicles are different, including shape, height of cab, width of cab area, shape of windshield or the size of it. So with all these factors in place i just dont believe the mic being on the Glass Truly determines the Sound systems TRUE Capabilities, i mean after all the other classifications and rules in place the last rule that can either favor or handicap a particular system should be placement of a mic. And the head rest is a great place. but my port is directly behind my head so technically that could be an argument for not being fair in itself. so i can see where the glass comes into play as Legal, but other systems shouldnt be handicaped and discredited because they dont do it with the doors shut.

The termlab has been designed and used as the standard because it is Consistent from one vehicle to the next, there are minor adjustments that could cause it to be inconsistent from one to the next due to K factor and mics. but overall it is the standard these days.

now while the Mics have evolved from the Audiocontrol to the termlab, other things have also evolved to change the sport. such as the shape of Ports. i know that Slot ports and AeroPorts changed a lot for the SPL world. The availability of Specialized Batteries, High Prevolt outputs, Monoblock amps from 2 channels, Subs with Huge Coils and multiple spiders. and Competitive Formats have changed as New orginizations were branched out off of what iasca had going.

I just wanted to make sure that you guys know this is not about my league and never was. i just had to bitch earlier and i offended people... which was not my intention.

if you guys dont mind i'm just looking for opinions on the metering of vehicles and why they prefer those rules.

honestly I go to events in my area so what ever rule apply is what I go by. You hears the old saying "Cant please everybody all the time, but can please some of the people some of the time"

and Fun is what i am trying to bring back to the sport. this sport died in Colorado. and it use to be big around here. so this past year i developed some minor changes and some completely New events never even done before. and it was for the Competitor by the competitor. i have no interest in the money. its purely the activity and gatherings. I love to show up and beat my shit into the ground and watch the youngsters eyes light up with excitement as the get to sit in the van for the first time, they walk in INNOCENT and get converted into a BASSHEADS.

I've never competed yet but honestly I think dead center of the dash like where the radio is would be a rather fair spot in almost every car.

I like the dash personally, but I have to agree, that it can vary slightly, from car to car, plus the dash isn't the ideal spot for listening....... But its far enough away form most subs, that it's a little more fair....

However I do wanna setup an oddball class where it measures from the hood............... Still trying to figure out how to make it work....

i dont think the hood is a good place. I think anywhere in front of the Seat you sit where your back rests is good tho and fair. all within the actual listening area

just do all the spots that you can, with a video and then your proof is there, you do X amount of DBs at the headrest, you do X amount of dbs at the dash sealed, and you do X amount of dbs in the kick, and in the port
