If the DCR is 1.7, they are not 1.4 coils. . . .

Current system:

1997 Blazer - (4) Customer Fi NEO subs with (8) American Bass Elite 2800.1s

Previous systems:

2000 Suburban - (4) BTL 15's and (4) IA 40.1's = 157.7 dB at 37 Hz.

1992 Astro Van - (6) BTL 15's and (6) IA 40.1's = 159.7 dB at 43 Hz.

Simply assume they are 2 ohms for this exercise.

Wire to 4 ohm each woofer than all in parallel for 1.33 -- each amp will see 0.67

Right, so if they are 1.4, the amps would see .46 each. Should be okay after rise, right?

Edit: I think i'm finally catching on to the whole Ohm's Law thing.

yeah i wouldn't have someone assume such things...

ok here's your options, i'll make it easy for you.

each coil is 1.4.

1.4 x 2 = 2.8 per speaker when wired in series

1.4 \ 2 - .7 per speaker when wired in paralell.

ok now we treat each DVC sub as SVC subs with either 2.8 load or 0.7 load

0.7 x 3 = 2.1

0.7 / 3 = 0.233333 eww.

2.8 x 3 = 8.4

2.8 / 3 = 0.93333

ok now we got 4 optional loads to be split between 2 amps strapped.

2.1 / 2 = 1.05

0.2333 /2 = .. yeah we won't go there..

8.4 / 2 = 4.2 not gonna see a lotta power here...

0.933333 / 2 = 0.4666666 we can call this 0.5 per amp..

SO there's 2 viable choices here.

each sub in series with itself and parallel with the other 2 subs for a final load of 0.46666 per amp.

or

each sub parallel with itself and series with the other 2 subs for a final load of 1.05 per amp.

... and since I was just joking above ... I will repeat :)

A 1.4 DCR coil is 2 ohms nominal... you can assume it is a 2 ohm for wiring your amp.

An amp designed for 1 ohm will handle a 0.7 DCR load -- it's taken into account. Same goes for wiring numerous woofers together... I've tested it and I've wired up a "few" of our amps over the years to 0.7 / 1.4 DCR woofers (1 ohm and 2 ohm nominal respectively).

Man Sundownz, we posted the same thing. . .does not matter how many times it gets posted, people just don't understand the 1.4 ohms DCR vs. 2 ohms nominal AC impedance. . .
