Uhm.. So.. I'm kinda new here. I'm from Brazil and will be making a trip to NY in Feb/11.

Was hoping to get some DC subs when I get there, but dont know what would be better for my system.

I have a TE1501D, voltage not very good (dropping down to 12.8Volts) and was thinking about getting a single Lvl 4 or a XL. I suppose my amp would put out something like clean 1300~1400w in that kind of voltage.

What sub would be a better choice for me? Keeping in mind I love the lows.

Thanks!

well i wanted XL's but instead i was convinced to get the lvl 4's with 5 parts due to them not being in stock, even though i said money/waiting wasn't a problem.

Me and another guy i wont name, blew the shit outta ours at the db drag in July.

Are they loud, yes... But they get stinky fast and after hearing the xl's im pissed because they are all around a better woofer.

the kicker to it all is that i still ended up waiting for my coil to come in and i wasn't even informed untili called in a week later.

No need for level 5 coils with that power.

Yeah. I tought the same.

Why would I need aditional spider and lvl 5 coils with 1400w rms? I dont get it...

Anyways, a Lvl 4 would play louder in my system than a XL? Idk how bad underpowering a sub is...

Thats just what , and Rob told me about a month ago for 1500wrms, and Rusty confirmed it. Lvl 4s arent like XLs or lvl 5...

The xl is an efficient sub. Plus if you ever decide to upgrade the amp the xl will love it. However the lvl 4 is a great sub with or without the lvl 5 parts.

get the XL room for more power in the future

And what should I get from this, man? That for 1500w it would be better getting a Lvl 4 w/ lvl 5 coils instead of getting a Lvl 4 XL that can handle 1500w?

I know they arent the same... Thats why I wanna know wich sub would perform better in my amp.

I wont be getting an amp upgrade anyday soon. Keeping that in mind, you still think it would outperform a lvl 4 in my system?

One more thing: The lvl 5 parts wouldnt make the sub less efficient in some kind of way? I mean, ofc they would end up accepting more power, but would that sacrifice anything?

Im not considering an upgrade on my amp. 1500w rms is already hard to keep on stock alt. Imagine something bigger... lol

Btw, thanks for those who helpeded so far! XD
