Best tips/tricks/meds/remedies to get over a cold

So last night I helped a buddy get his garage organized before the cold weather comes, and I woke up this morning with a full blown head cold. I figured since SMD has some pretty smart people on here, maybe we should get a thread going with any tips/tricks, recommended medicines or other remedies to get over a cold as quickly as possible. Also, any ideas how to make your symptoms as tolerable as possible. So anyways, any ideas guys? Thanks!

i drink me some OJ and keep putting eye drops in my eyes. chicken noodle soup and rest. next day feelin like a million bucks most times. im not no doc far fro really but thats what i do

my mom takes air-born and swears by it. i just take a couple vitamin C pills (something like 400% daily value) and the cold never seems to get very bad.

keep your immunities up, and get lots of rest. i just got over a cold as of 2 days ago. spent every night under my blankets with a heater under there as well trying to burn it out of me LOL!

zinc is good to help boost your immune as well. more as a preventative thing tho. also when you start feeling your throat start getting sore, gurgle salt water. or even regular water if you can't get salt water. kills something like 75% or more of the germs i was told

Have any of you tried Zicam? I had a few people tell me that it helps shorten the length of your cold but its pretty expensive, so I thought I'd ask before dropping over 10 bux on trying something new.

Coldeez, and airborne are both good for getting over it, and in all honesty this might sound weird but take a 20 minute shower alternating cold water and hot water every 5 minutes. Basically a virus needs a stable body temperature to multiply, you get a fever because your body is naturally trying to change the temperature to make it not a stable environment for the virus. Taking a shower alternating cold and hot can often make your body temperature vary just enough to stop the virus from getting a hold on you.

this is pretty damn good info. but for the hot/cold shower part. damn. i feel sorry for your guys' nipples haha try not to cut any diamonds or get too close to a mirror and scratch the shit out of it

well... we are warm blooded so it takes a hell of a lot to get your internal body temp to change. i dont really believe you could do it in a shower... cool theory though. know of any studies on this?
