4 XL 15s and a Warhorse 1/23 TL?????

Recommended Posts

The fuse block looks MUCH better now bro. That parallel configuration you had going before would have worked if you were trying to achieve a 1000a fuse or w/e they added up to. The new box looks good though, but the bolts/screws on the face kinda ruin the sleek look of the CF I think. Cant wait to see this build finished!

And I forgot to mention before, its good to see you worked things out with the admins and you're back on the forum. Your builds are a great inspiration to myself and others too I'm sure.

Don't lie, you know that you'll be shooting for a 154, then a 155 in a few weeks lol.

I have a question..did the SMDs or Lvl 5s audibly sound better/cleaner? Which brought out the lows better?

I cant give you a dead honest opinion because I never got the 5s to full power. I did like the overall sound of the SMDs better though. The level 5 is just more of an SPL sub and is built towards that. I have heard the XLs and they are a much more musical sub. Its not really a fair comparison either because they are such different subs.I will post more on this topic if you remind me.I just got wifi hooked up in my shop and am posting as I work.

Here's your reminder =]

Ok here is my opinion on the 2 subs.

1) It is not a fair to compare a 3" and 4" coil sub. The SMD will take way more power than I could give it all day long. I would be comfortable giving the SMD 8-10k daily in the right box. The level 5 I wouldnt feel comfortable going over 5k daily. Now burps that would be a whole different story that im not going into.

2) Musically I liked the SMD better. I felt like it played every note I threw at it and sounded good doing it. I felt like the Level 5 was geared more towards the SPL side of car audio where the SMD is a combination of both SPL and SQ. In the DC line the XL, I think sounds as good or better than the SMD.

Thanks a lot for that review. I like how you even threw the XL into the mix. I guess there isn't really a sub out like the SMD (a sub that takes a SHIT LOAD of power while sounding good). I wonder how the XL will play music on 16,000+ watts. I'm not too confident, but well see :)

None of this would be possible without some badass subs!!! If you can let me know when the 4 18s ship that would be great. I just need to make sure I am home when fedex shows up with them to sign for em.

Im gonna tell you guys that there is no better customer service out there than Rusty and DC Audio! I will be givin you a call tomorrow about getting some artwork for my box.
