C.Sanchez.A
Is it ok to have the port on the outside of the box? cOmpressor
What kind of port? An aero tube is totally fine and I guess a slot port would still work but I've never really seen that.
OrionStang
I've never done it, but I don't think there's anything wrong with it. Torres' calculater even has a box for port length outside the box. Quote SMD Super Seller My Feedback Thread
bumonskateboard6
Sure, it's common in SPL where the tuning frequency is very high to have a small box, tons of power, and a high tuned external port. Low voltage doesn't blow amps. That's a myth. A router that does the sub holes makes rounded edges also?
C.Sanchez.A
Good, because this is what I think I'm going to build for my truck. bobonit
External ports are fine. Plus, you gain the space back that the port would have displaced inside the enclosure. C.Sanchez.A
External ports are fine. Plus, you gain the space back that the port would have displaced inside the enclosure. That's what I needed. I have very little room to work with. Hugh G. Rection
Good, because this is what I think I'm going to build for my truck. that port design can work, but will be severely inefficient. Quote Owner of BigAss Ports
OrionStang
That box might sound like shit. Your trying to force the air all the air sideways and then 90 degrees to exit. If that slot was vertical, it would work better. Some of that air is going to want to bounce straight back against that air, causing some cancellation. There will be a lot of turbulence in there. Somebody correct me if i'm off here. At the same time, i'm curious to see what this would sound like. iKidwell
that's actually really neat, i wouldn't have thought of it..but like orion said, there probably will be some cancellation, but finding what works the best is all about trial and error , so get to building Quote c'mon now, if i was shooting an 8 year old, it wouldnt be MY 8 year old. i recently got a Pyle PL1590BL and i was building an enclosure for it tuned to 25 hz. i didn't have any tools to cut a circle so i hit it with a big hammer. 2003 Infiniti G35 Sport Sedan Build in Progress
